FrontStreet Coffee introduces Sidamo Coffee, which is named after its origin region.
Sidamo Coffee Region
The Sidamo administrative region is located in southern Ethiopia, bordering Kenya. Sidamo, Harar, and Limu are the main producing areas of specialty coffee in Ethiopia. Although the Yirgacheffe region belongs to Sidamo, its unique aroma and flavor are well-known in the global specialty coffee community due to natural geographical environmental factors such as soil composition and water content. Therefore, in the market, the separate names "Sidamo" and "Yirgacheffe" are often heard, similar to the relationship between "Yantai apples" and "Qixia apples."
Sidamo Coffee Characteristics
Sidamo: altitude 1,400-2,200 meters, belonging to the garden coffee system.
Like Yirgacheffe, the specialty coffee bean producing areas of Sidamo all adopt organic cultivation and manual harvesting to ensure the health and high-quality flavor of the coffee. It is also worth mentioning that Sidamo coffee has a lower caffeine content and is also known as natural low-caffeine coffee.
