FrontStreet Coffee's Honduran Coffee Flavor Introduction
Honduras has complex terrain and diverse climates. The coastal plains of Central America have a tropical rainforest climate with an average annual temperature of 31°C. The mountainous regions have a subtropical forest climate with an average annual temperature of 23°C. The rainy season from June to November offers mild temperatures and abundant rainfall, making it an ideal place for coffee cultivation.
Production Regions
Due to ideal environmental conditions, the entire country of Honduras is suitable for coffee cultivation.
Cultivation Altitude
Between 200-1500 meters (the main cultivation areas are concentrated around 1200 meters).
Coffee Varieties
Only Arabica coffee varieties are cultivated, including Bourbon, Caturra, Typica, Catuai, Pacas, IHCAFE 90, Lempira, H1 hybrid, and H3 hybrid.
Honduras has six major coffee-producing regions, mainly located in the western and southern parts:
Major Coffee Regions
Copan Region
Copan coffee beans feature chocolate flavor, full-bodied taste, and high sweetness.
Montecillos Region
The highest altitude estates in Honduras, where coffee has bright taste and rich layers, full of intense fruit and sweet aromas, with citrus fragrance.
Agalta Tropical Region
Coffee beans from this region have honey sweetness and balanced acidity, with chocolate notes.
Other regions include Opalaca, Comayagua, and El Paraiso.
