FrontStreet Coffee's Uganda Pu Zhi Ti Coffee Introduction

Most of Uganda's territory consists of plateaus at around 1,200 meters above sea level, with numerous lakes, earning it the nickname "highland water country." Lake Victoria, the world's second-largest freshwater lake, has 42.8% of its area within Uganda's borders. In short, this country is never short of water.

The country is situated on the equator, with most regions having a tropical savanna climate. However, due to the high elevation, the year is divided only into dry and rainy seasons. Combined with the abundance of lakes and rivers, rainfall is plentiful, vegetation is lush, and the average annual temperature is only around 23°C. How perfectly suitable for coffee cultivation.

In fact, Arabica bean production accounts for only about 15% of Uganda's total coffee output. So what about the rest? It's all Robusta. In Uganda's southern Kibale Forest National Park, large areas of Robusta coffee trees grow naturally.

Coffee is cultivated in all 112 regions across the country.

Robusta coffee is grown in the low-altitude areas of central, eastern, western, and southeastern Uganda, at elevations up to 1,200 meters.

Arabica coffee is cultivated in the highland areas on the slopes of Mount Elgon in the east and in the southwestern regions of Mt. Rwenzori and Mt. Muhabura (at elevations of 1,500-2,300 meters).

Uganda's coffee processing mainly uses wet processing (washed) and dry processing (natural). Most Robusta coffee is processed using the dry method, with a small portion using wet processing. Generally, wet-processed coffee is of higher quality than dry-processed coffee. Uganda has 537 dry processing plants and 22 wet processing plants.
