The Geisha variety was discovered in 1931 in the Geisha forest of Ethiopia and later sent to the Coffee Research Institute in Kenya. In 1936, it was introduced to Uganda and Tanzania; in 1953, it was introduced to Costa Rica.

For a long time, not many people paid attention to Geisha. It wasn't until one day when Don Pachi initially brought Geisha from the small town of GESHA in southwestern Ethiopia to Costa Rica, and then Geisha entered Panama along the southern route. Panama's Hacienda La Esmeralda separated it from other varieties and won the national coffee competition championship. This is how Geisha officially entered everyone's sight.

Geisha coffee is particularly demanding about its growing environment, requiring high altitude, cloud shade, fertile soil, and sufficient accumulated temperature. Aurora Coffee Estate is located in the northwest corner of Chiriqui Province, Panama, with an average altitude of 1,625 meters, an average annual temperature between 16°C and 25°C, and average rainfall of approximately 3,500 millimeters. The plantation uses semi-shade cultivation, with tree species all from local varieties, some of which are high-altitude Hass avocado trees. It is precisely this unique environment and climate that can cultivate the king of coffees.

The pronunciation of Geisha is the same as the Japanese word for geisha, hence it is also known as Geisha coffee. Because the tree variety is taller than typical coffee trees, it was originally planted in a small area within the estate and used as a windbreak.

By a fortunate opportunity, the son of the owner of Panama's Hacienda La Esmeralda, in order to participate in the annual Best of Panama coffee competition, searched through all coffee tree varieties in the estate for testing, which gave Geisha the opportunity to come into everyone's view. From then on, it became unstoppable, and it was later used to participate in various world coffee competitions, currently having won eleven championship trophies.

Panama is the most important region on the world coffee map. The auction beans from here fetch prices of hundreds of dollars each year.

The Panama Geisha that everyone loves was planted in the 1970s when Mr. Francisco Serracin from the Don Pachi farm obtained seeds from CATIE in Costa Rica and began cultivation. The reason why Geisha is more precious than gold is because of its extremely low yield and the need to participate in bidding, making it very difficult to obtain Geisha green beans.
