Introduction to Panama Butterfly - The Right Way to Drink Panama Coffee
FrontStreet Coffee Introduction: Panama Butterfly
Panama is a Central American country, bordering Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the east. Those familiar with single-origin coffee should know that Panamanian coffee is renowned in the coffee world for its Geisha variety from Hacienda La Esmeralda. It can be said to be a country that pursues excellence in coffee and produces high-quality beans.
Panamanian coffee is famous for the Geisha from Hacienda La Esmeralda, and the growing region where this estate is located is also quite well-known. This is the Boquete region in Chiriqui province. Boquete is a town in Chiriqui province, located near the border between Panama and Costa Rica, close to the famous Baru Volcano. With its beautiful scenery, rich and fertile soil, and climate and soil conditions ideal for producing high-quality coffee, the area excels in coffee cultivation.
Within the Boquete region, there are many excellent estates. Besides the famous Hacienda La Esmeralda, there are also renowned estates like Elida Estate and Kotowa Duncan Estate, all producing high-quality specialty coffee. This is not only due to the superior ecological conditions of Panama's Boquete region and the fertile volcanic ash soil of the Baru Volcano area.
Another important factor is the unique microclimate in the highlands of Boquete, which is an invaluable resource for specialty coffee in this region. Panama's east-to-west environmental pattern causes cold air currents to converge above 6,500 feet through the Central Mountains. This creates various microclimates in the Boquete area, making its temperature and rainfall patterns extremely suitable for plant growth. Therefore, coffee trees planted here grow exceptionally well.
In the Boquete region, there is a coffee bean offering exceptional value for money, and it bears a beautiful name — Butterfly.
Butterfly possesses 70% Geisha heritage, consisting of three varieties: Geisha, Caturra, and Catuai. It is grown in the Baru Volcano region of Boquete, at an altitude of 1,600 meters. The processing plant uses meticulous washed processing. Panama's special local microclimate results in abundant rainfall in this region, coupled with significant temperature differences between day and night. Combined with the unique volcanic rock soil of the volcanic area, as well as careful harvesting and refined processing, this coffee performs exceptionally well in terms of body, acidity, and floral notes.
Even more surprisingly, despite its excellent quality, its very approachable price makes this coffee bean offer incredible value. The special characteristic of this coffee bean is that it contains the Geisha variety, giving this coffee very distinct Geisha flavor characteristics.
FrontStreet Coffee suggests that before enjoying Panama Butterfly, first smell the aroma of the coffee, then take a small sip to experience the overall flavor and mouthfeel in your mouth, and after swallowing, feel the sweet aftertaste that the coffee leaves behind.
