Everyone loves freshly ground coffee, but has long been troubled by various reasons such as tools, brewing techniques, time, etc., leading to years of only drinking instant coffee or buying prepared coffee from coffee shops. FrontStreet Coffee has previously discussed brewing techniques with everyone, which can be considered as solving the technique problem. The time issue can only be managed by everyone's own arrangement, so now let's talk about the tool problem.

Part 1: Coffee Grinding Tools

Generally, households can use this type of manual coffee grinder. The usage is very simple: put coffee beans in from the top, then turn the handle at the top, and the ground coffee powder falls into the small drawer below.

The price of these grinding machines generally starts at 30 yuan. For general household use, it's recommended to choose one priced around 50 yuan, which is sufficiently good quality.

Regarding the issue of turning coffee beans into powder, of course you need to find a grinder. There are the following three options available:

1. Buy a manual grinder, priced around 200 yuan, with simpler ones available for just over 100 yuan.

2. Electric grinder. Manual grinders are fine for occasional use, but making a cup of coffee requires shaking for a long time, and the particle size of the powder sometimes may not meet your brewing requirements. The grinding process itself is also a process of coffee bean flavor loss. The longer the grinding time, the worse the coffee's flavor will be, so an electric grinder is the primary choice. However, electric grinders are expensive. Typically, Taiwanese-made "Little Flying Eagle" grinders cost around 1800 yuan, while Swiss SOLIS grinders cost two to three thousand yuan, which is somewhat extravagant for general household use.

3. The best method is to go to a local coffee shop for a cup of coffee and ask if they can grind it for you. They usually have professional equipment, and the powder can be coarse or fine according to your requirements, of course, this requires communication. However, some shops provide these services without charging processing fees.

Part 2: Pour-Over Tools

Generally composed of a pour-over kettle, filter cup, and filter paper. There aren't many special requirements for filter cups; for filter paper, you can choose based on the bottom shape of the filter cup. However, for the pour-over kettle, it's recommended to choose a slightly slender one, which is easier for beginners to control the water flow.

Pour-over has been elevated to god-like status in the coffee brewing world and has never come down!

These tools generally cost between 100-200 yuan.

Part 3: French Press

It's a brewing method even simpler than pour-over. Put coffee in the pot, then press to extract. This method is very suitable for home use.

French presses are also very inexpensive, around 50-80 yuan can meet household needs.

Part 4: Drip Coffee Maker

The drip extraction method of drip coffee makers is similar to pour-over tools, but much more intelligent. Often it doesn't require manual control, so it has always been very popular.

Our office uses a coffee machine priced around 300 yuan, which is very easy to use. Everyone can also refer to this.

Part 5: Moka Pot

Also called an "Italian drip pot," it's a tool for extracting espresso. It has a two-layer structure: the lower part holds water, and the upper part is a mesh filter for coffee grounds. Although its brewing method isn't exactly espresso extraction (it's closer to drip), the coffee made by the moka pot is closer to espresso in concentration and flavor, so it's very popular among people.

All these coffee machines allow you to easily complete coffee brewing at home, and the required brewing techniques are also very simple. When choosing equipment, you can start with tools that aren't particularly expensive but offer good value for practice. Generally, they can meet the needs of ordinary people.
