What Coffee Beans Work Best with AeroPress?

To avoid overly acidic or watery lattes, we recommend prioritizing medium and dark roast classifications, such as FrontStreet Coffee's Paradise Bird, FrontStreet Coffee's Queen Estate, FrontStreet Coffee's Gold Mandheling, and FrontStreet Coffee's Huilan. However, if you're sensitive to bitterness, we highly recommend fruit-acid type coffee bags with fermented characteristics, like FrontStreet Coffee's Sidra, FrontStreet Coffee's Strawberry Candy, and FrontStreet Coffee's Sunflower Warm Sun Blend. Because these coffees combine candied fruit, fermented wine aromas, and certain caramelized flavors, they pair better with milk.

How to Make AeroPress Latte

Alright, without further ado, FrontStreet Coffee will share how to use an AeroPress to make a high-concentration coffee! The extraction parameters are as follows:

Beans used: FrontStreet Coffee's Colombia Huilan
Coffee amount: 20g
Coffee-to-water ratio: 1:3 (because coffee grounds will absorb a certain amount of water, FrontStreet Coffee found through multiple experiments that 1:3 is the most suitable ratio)
Grind setting: Espresso grind (flour-like consistency)
Extraction temperature: 94°C
Extraction method: Inverted press
Time: One minute

First, let's assemble this "syringe" and then turn it upside down.

Then add coffee grounds and hot water in sequence.

Stir for 10 rounds and wait for one minute.

When the time is up, we put on the cap and place a prepared glass upside down on top. Then, holding the AeroPress and glass firmly, flip everything over.

Finally, apply firm pressure to the plunger and press down slowly.

When completely pressed to the bottom, the extraction is done! You can see that although this coffee is small in volume, its color is very dark, which means it has quite a high concentration! Take a small sip, hey! It has that authentic taste!

So, what FrontStreet Coffee believes everyone is most concerned about now is what effect it will have when used to make lattes. Very good, FrontStreet Coffee immediately prepared some milk foam for production, with the following parameters:

AeroPress espresso: 40ml
Milk foam: 200ml

And then we got a cup of milk coffee that looks quite good!

But when FrontStreet Coffee took a sip, we found that, umm... it's slightly a bit weak, but it also has plenty of chocolate, cream, and nut aromas. Although the flavor intensity isn't as strong as that from a coffee machine, it doesn't have any negative aftertaste, and throughout the experience, there's both coffee aroma and milk aroma. We unanimously believe it's worth recommending.

Is the AeroPress Worth Recommending?

The AeroPress combines the immersion extraction method of French press, the paper filter of pour-over coffee, and the quick, pressurized extraction principle of espresso. Therefore, theoretically, coffee brewed with AeroPress can have the richness of espresso, the purity of pour-over coffee, and the smoothness of French press. In fact, the "playability" of AeroPress is no less than that of pour-over coffee. The reason relatively fewer people use it isn't because the AeroPress is expensive or complex, but because there are too many variables, making it relatively more difficult to get started. In other words, the AeroPress might be "difficult to learn," but it's by no means "difficult to master."
