About AeroPress

The AeroPress is made of plastic material and consists of two main components: the upper component (plunger) and the lower component. The AeroPress is convenient for travel, being lightweight, durable, and affordable.

Coffee brewed with the AeroPress has a flavor similar to drip coffee, with a rich and mellow taste. This is achieved through pressurized filtration, where pressure is generated by compressing the air inside the chamber during extraction.

In addition to quickly brewing a cup of coffee, the fun aspect of the AeroPress is that it offers multiple different brewing methods. It can also brew coffee similar to that from a moka pot, with both standard and inverted brewing methods available.

Standard Brewing Method

1. Prepare the filter paper, place it in the filter cap, and rinse it with hot water.

2. Then install the filter cap onto the lower component.

3. Pour in the ground coffee. The grind size and amount of coffee depend on your preferred strength. Pour in hot water and let it bloom for 30-40 seconds.

4. Pour in hot water again, let it sit for 30 seconds, and stir. Then insert the plunger (upper component) into the lower component and slowly press down to make the coffee pass through the filter paper. You now have a cup of full-bodied coffee.

Inverted Brewing Method

1. Assemble the upper component (plunger) and lower component of the AeroPress, then place it upside down. Pour in the ground coffee. Pour in 30g of hot water for blooming.

2. Let it bloom for 30-40 seconds.

3. Pour in hot water again and let it sit for 30 seconds.

4. Stir slowly. (The blooming, resting, and stirring steps are generally the same as the standard method, but you can freely adjust the extraction time.)

5. Finally, install the prepared filter cap (with filter paper already in place) onto the bottom of the entire assembly, then flip it upright and press down.

FrontStreet Coffee's Recommended AeroPress Method

Parameters & Technique: Grind size: BG 5R (58% retention rate on China standard #20 sieve), Water temperature: 90°C, Coffee-to-water ratio: 1:15.

Using the inverted method, add 15g of coffee grounds and pour water directly to 225g, then stop pouring. Stir three times to ensure the coffee grounds fully contact the hot water. Stir again at one minute to increase extraction. At one and a half minutes, flip and press out. The total extraction time is two minutes.

Flavor Profile: The aroma carries notes of spices and fermented fruit. On the palate, there are flavors of cocoa and cream, with lime acidity. As the temperature decreases, flavors of citrus, dark plum, and grapefruit emerge, with a hazelnut finish.
