The Truth About Blue Mountain Coffee
Blue Mountain Coffee seems to have become an overused term, after all, large bags of Blue Mountain coffee beans for just tens of dollars appear to be quite common. And there are rumors that all Blue Mountain coffee in China is fake, right?
So what exactly are those Blue Mountain coffees?
If they are products from legitimate manufacturers, you'll notice that the packaging always includes the words "flavor" on it. The so-called Blue Mountain flavor is made by blending other varieties of coffee beans together and roasting them to create a taste similar to Blue Mountain.
Of course, just as creamer can never replicate the texture of milk, Blue Mountain flavored coffee beans and the authentic Blue Mountain coffee beans we're discussing today are completely different concepts.
Understanding Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee
Friends who frequently visit coffee shops will notice that single-origin bean products typically include information about altitude, estate, processing method, and similar details.
Blue Mountain coffee is produced in Jamaica's Blue Mountains. The Jamaican government established a coffee regulatory department as early as 1953, specifically responsible for quality control of coffee beans.
What we're opening today is a 70kg batch of Blue Mountain coffee beans from Clydesdale Estate in Jamaica's Blue Mountain region.
Clydesdale Estate has been operated by four generations of the family and has a history spanning over two hundred years.
The Journey of Blue Mountain Coffee in China
It used to be very difficult for Chinese people to drink a cup of authentic Blue Mountain coffee. Not only is it extremely challenging for consumers to identify genuine versus fake Blue Mountain coffee beans, but I believe not even all industry professionals can confidently distinguish between them. Substituting inferior products for good ones and passing off fakes as genuine have both damaged Blue Mountain's fine reputation.
However, the good news is that with China's growing prosperity and increased wealth among its people, coupled with higher demands for quality of life and enormous consumer demand, we now have the opportunity to choose Blue Mountain coffee.
When we pre-ordered Blue Mountain last year, we applied for authorization. Unexpectedly, it took nearly a year to receive this paper authorization. By the time we got it, it was already winter. I joked at the time that these two wax seals looked like blush —
The Character of Blue Mountain Coffee
Some people dislike Blue Mountain, thinking it lacks distinctive characteristics or personality. However, this view is only half correct. It is precisely because of this excellent balance, combined with outstanding fineness and richness, that Blue Mountain achieves its most precious quality.
Blue Mountain has never hoped to attract those who understand it through its personality alone. Those who understand will appreciate its goodness. Not chasing trends, and confidently being itself, can be considered a transcendent way of engaging with the world.
Because Blue Mountain has never tried to be something else.

Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee Flavor Description:
The taste is exceptionally clean, and it is one of the sweetest coffees in the world. This flavor has been described by Jim Reynolds in Peet's Coffee and Tea: "The finest examples of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee have an aromatic, smooth, and rich character that gives me a sense of gem-like quality. It's as precious as a gemstone.
It's complex yet very gentle, sweet, and has a very strong body. You must taste it to understand what I'm talking about." The unique growing conditions and meticulous attention to detail throughout all production processes have made Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee very famous. The flavor is rich and mellow, with a perfect balance of coffee's sweet, sour, and bitter notes. It has no bitterness at all, only moderate and perfect acidity with a persistent fruity aftertaste.
