Estate History
Finca La Perla is located in the ancient mountains of El Quiché province in central-western Guatemala, owned by José Luis and Amparo Arenas, who are known locally as the 'Quiet Guardians.' Due to its deep mountain location, transportation is quite inconvenient. By traditional means of transportation—horses and mules—it takes up to three days of trekking through winding mountain paths and forests to reach the estate. This directly affects the external shipment of coffee beans after harvest. Therefore, another transportation method is using light aircraft to transport coffee beans, though this significantly increases transportation costs and risks. The estate even suffered financial losses for up to 36 years.
However, these difficulties did not defeat them. Through strong religious faith, diligent work attitude, passion for coffee, and exceptional care for their employees' lives, José Luis and Amparo Arenas led everyone on the estate to transform this land into a 'fertile ground of hope' filled with dreams and future. In 2006, they achieved an excellent result of 4th place in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition.
The 2017 new arrival of washed Caturra micro-batch can be said to be delivered to you with the full effort of the Arenas family! This is a coffee with clear main flavors and excellent balance. Please taste its unique roasted nuts and brown sugar characteristics, high-quality bright acidity like white grapes, and the sweet aftertaste that lingers on the tongue, bringing a perfect conclusion to the entire cup!
