This batch features the highly acclaimed Wild River decaffeinated batch!

The Moanti family from Papua New Guinea produces this batch of CO2 processed decaffeinated raw beans!

The coffee farmer organization established by Mrs. Moanti Ise - Kiviringka Community, can produce approximately 100 tons of raw beans annually, with 260 coffee farmers participating in Moanti's organization. This is a Sustainable Management Services (SMS) project, supported by international organizations including exporters and the World Bank, aiming to successfully establish a raw bean supply chain. The main producing area is in the high-altitude Dunatina Valley in the Eastern Highlands, with the local administrative region being Henganofi District.

Wild River is a small area within the Dunatina Valley, where local farmers gather and serve as suppliers for this batch.

Farmers in the Wild River area cultivate about 1000 coffee trees per household, with varieties including Typica, Bourbon, and Arusha. FrontStreet Coffee's decaffeinated batch specifically selects Typica, choosing only batches with cupping scores above 85 points for decaffeination processing.

Traveling to Wild River and Dunatina Valley requires going through Goroka, featuring steep mountain terrain but lush and beautiful scenery. Coffee farmers in the mountainous areas, especially members of community alliances, have learned to manually harvest ripe cherries, use water to screen unripe fruits and debris in the first stage, then use small depulpers to remove skin and pulp, followed by about 36 hours of fermentation, after which they are washed and sun-dried on trellises.
