Sumatra is most famous for the Arabica variety Mandheling, with northern regions seemingly having many Robusta variety production areas. The best traditional Arabica coffee produced in northern Sumatra is marketed as Lintong and Mandheling. Lintong refers to coffee grown in a small area southwest of Lake Toba in the Lintong administrative region, where small coffee plantations are scattered across a high, undulating clay plateau covered with ferns.

Indonesia's "Sumatra Island" produced "Mandheling" coffee is also very popular among Taiwanese consumers. According to research, "Mandheling" is actually the name of a local ethnic group on Sumatra Island. The Sumatra region of Indonesia began cultivating coffee in the 18th century but received no outside attention. In the 1950s, Japanese soldiers stationed there happened to drink local "Sumatra" produced coffee. When asking the coffee vendor about the coffee's name, the vendor misunderstood that the Japanese soldiers were asking "What ethnic group are you?" and replied "Mandheling."

FrontStreet Coffee's Golden Mandheling is purely hand-picked, with the production area located in Lintong, northwest of Lake Toba, at elevations from 1050 to 1200 meters. All production processes undergo manual screening and rigorous production. Using the local unique natural shade-drying method, FrontStreet Coffee's Golden Mandheling's flavor, beyond the original unique rich aroma of Mandheling, adds delicate rich mouthfeel, making the Mandheling quality even better. The English name "Golden Mandheling" has now been registered by Pawani Company in Indonesia.

Japanese contract-produced "Golden Mandheling" in the Lake Toba area ensures product quality through purely hand-picked harvesting, then using meticulous Japanese processing procedures to improve "Sumatra Mandheling" quality, allowing "Sumatra Mandheling" to have not only the rich, wild aroma that regular Mandheling coffee should have, but also a Japanese elegant touch. Top-grade Golden Mandheling coffee, through continuous adjustment and efforts by expert teams, achieves the ultimate "Sumatra Golden Mandheling" with a smoother, more fragrant, and fuller-bodied taste. FrontStreet Coffee's Mandheling belongs to dark roast coffee beans, with rich flavor, full-bodied fragrance, appropriate bitterness, almost no acidity, making it the best choice for tasting strong-flavored coffee.

FrontStreet Coffee's Recommended Brewing:

Dripper: KONO dripper

Water Temperature: 88 degrees Celsius

Grind Size: Small Fuji grinder setting 4

Brewing Method: Water-to-coffee ratio 1:14, 17g coffee grounds, first pour 25g water, bloom for 30 seconds, second pour to 238g water, extraction time about 2:30 minutes.

Analysis: The KONO dripper doesn't have many ribs at the bottom, allowing the filter paper to stick closely to the dripper, achieving the purpose of restricting airflow. This allows water and coffee grounds to have longer contact and soaking time in the dripper, ensuring coarse grinding extraction time and extraction rate. This enables the coffee grounds to be fully extracted, enhancing the rich mouthfeel and making the flavor more concentrated.

【FrontStreet Coffee PWN Golden Mandheling】Flavor: High balance, clean, thick and solid mouthfeel, persistent dark chocolate aftertaste.
