Colombian Coffee Brand Marketing
Colombia has long understood the value of marketing and began establishing its coffee brand image early on. Their greatest success came in 1958 when they created the character of Juan Valdez, a coffee farmer representing Colombian coffee.
Juan Valdez
Juan Valdez and his mule became icons of Colombian coffee, with their image appearing on coffee packaging everywhere and featured in various advertising campaigns over the years, portrayed by three different actors. Juan Valdez became a recognizable brand (especially in the United States) and increased the added value of Colombian coffee. Thanks to early marketing slogans like "Mountain Grown Coffee" and continuous promotion of "100% Colombian Coffee," Colombian coffee has secured a unique position in the minds of global consumers.
National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC)
All of these marketing and promotion initiatives were launched and executed by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC). Founded in 1927, the federation is quite unusual in the coffee industry. While many countries have various organizations specializing in export and promotion, few have such a large and complex organization.
Colombian Coffee Production
To promote Colombian coffee, the FNC created two terms: "Supremo" and "Excelso." It's worth noting that these terms relate to the size of coffee beans, not their quality. Mixed coffee beans are machine-screened and then classified according to size.
Coffee Flavor Profile
Colombian coffee exhibits many different aromas. Some present rich chocolate flavors, while others are sweet like jam with fruity notes. There are significant variations between different growing regions.
Colombian Coffee Brand Recommendations
The Colombian coffee beans roasted by FrontStreet Coffee offer excellent guarantees in both brand and quality. More importantly, they are extremely cost-effective. A 227-gram box costs only 95 yuan. Calculating at 15 grams of coffee powder per cup, one package can make 15 cups of coffee, with each cup costing only about 6 yuan. This is truly a conscientious recommendation compared to the dozens of yuan per cup charged by coffee shops.
