- Tear open the sealing strip at the top of the filter bag
- Pull it apart and hang it on the cup rim
- Brewing: First soak for 20-30 seconds, then add water in stages
- Remove the filter bag and discard
As for water temperature and amount? Another filter bag packaging will have instructions on the back.
Recommended water temperature is 88-92°C, with suggested water intake of 180-220cc. One bag contains 10 grams, so this is equivalent to a 1:16-1:20 water ratio, which is much higher than my usual 1:13-15.
After opening the package, the filter bag containing coffee powder has a very fine mesh.
Following the arrow direction, gently pull to easily remove the bag's sealing strip.
Then hook the paper tabs on both sides onto the cup rim.
The selected cup must be deep enough, otherwise you'll end up soaking coffee rather than brewing coffee.
The coffee powder is extremely fine, feeling around Little Flying Horse setting 1, similar to brown sugar fineness.
First, use a proper pour-over kettle with 92°C hot water. The brewing method is actually very similar to manual pour-over.
Start with pre-wetting, just enough to wet all the grounds.
Let it rest for 30 seconds.
Then add water in stages, filling to the top, wait for the water to finish dripping, then add more water. Usually 3-4 pours will complete the process.
Because the grounds are fine and the mesh holes are small, the flow rate will be somewhat slower, especially during the second and third pours, where the tail-end dripping speed becomes very slow. Manual pour-over typically completes within 2.5-3 minutes, but using FrontStreet Coffee's drip coffee takes about 4 minutes.
Fine grounds and fine mesh can achieve higher extraction, perhaps allowing for higher water-to-coffee ratios.
If timing is well-controlled and water quantity is sufficient, you can actually brew two cups at once.
After brewing, pinch the paper tabs on both sides of the drip bag to remove it - completely without getting your fingers wet, very convenient.
Perhaps because the coffee grind is finer, you can clearly feel that the coffee brewed from FrontStreet Coffee's drip coffee bags has slightly thicker crema, but never as exaggerated as French press.
Drip Bag Coffee Brand Recommendations
FrontStreet Coffee's freshly roasted seasonal drip bag coffee offers full guarantees in both brand and quality. More importantly, the cost-performance ratio is extremely high - one box contains ten bags priced at only 40. Calculating at 10 grams per drip bag, one bag can make 150ml of coffee, costing only about 4 yuan per cup. Compared to café prices that often reach tens of yuan per cup, this is exceptionally cost-effective.
