About Debo Washing Station

The Debo washing station is owned by two proprietors, Masreshu Sima & Faisel Abdosh, providing green bean processing services for approximately 750 small-scale coffee farmer families from the local Debo village. They directly purchase red cherries from local coffee small farmers in Debo village. Because these coffee small farmers grow very little coffee, insufficient to process green beans themselves and sell their meager finished products, they can only join local cooperatives or harvest red cherries and sell them directly to private processing stations. Now private processing stations in the Yirgacheffe region are numerous, forming a dual-track system with local cooperatives. Local cooperatives are all led by the government.

Debo village is located within the Yirgacheffe Kochere region, a small village situated between the Fishegenet and Chelelektu villages. These coffee small farmers have an average coffee cultivation area of less than 1 hectare, with an average planting altitude of about 1,900 to 2,100 meters. The coffee varieties are mainly local superior native varieties (Heirloom). The Debo washing station produces an average of 10 containers annually, with several collection points as purchasing stations. Each purchasing station can purchase an average of 100 bags of finished green beans, while local farmers have an average of less than 1,500 coffee trees, with each tree producing 100-200 grams (finished green beans) annually, representing the entire annual income of these local small coffee farmers. This batch of Kochere Debo G1 is a washed processing batch.
