Cupping Flavor

The dry aroma is filled with sweet notes of spices, cream, and brown sugar. At medium temperature, prominent malic acid and citrus flavors emerge, with a honey-like texture. The overall sweetness and substance are excellent, reminiscent of the regional flavors of Kenya.

Blackburn Estate is now an award-winning estate, not only for its unique coffee flavor but also for Michael's dedication to ecological conservation. No pesticides are used in the estate, where coffee is grown organically, and 80% of the land is designated for natural conservation. Wildlife roams freely here, unrestricted by fences—lions, buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, and various other species travel between coffee trees and vast forests at night.

The coffee is grown at an altitude of approximately 1,760 to 1,950 meters. The actual coffee growing area occupies only 16% of the entire estate (about 187 acres), with large native tree species providing good shade for the most sun-exposed areas. Therefore, new coffee growing areas have recently been established on the east and south sides of the estate, which will primarily provide specially hand-selected small batches of beans in the future. Blackburn Estate has a well-managed wet processing plant, with water sourced from the mountain springs of Oldeani Mountain (meaning "bamboo shoot mountain" in the local language).
