Tanzania is located in Central/Eastern Africa. Tanzanian coffee beans are typically processed using the washed method, resulting in bright (acidic) and quite delightful flavors. In East Africa, Kenya is certainly the main coffee producer, but Tanzanian coffee beans are actively catching up and producing many fine coffees with the same qualities as Kenyan coffee.
In the past, when cupping many Tanzanian coffees, defective flavors often appeared. Were these not truly excellent Tanzanian coffee beans? I believe the real reason lies in the shipping process, and Tanzania doesn't have Kenya's good infrastructure and shipping mechanisms. However, this situation is gradually improving, as we are finding more and more "excellent Tanzanian coffee beans" emerging.
This is a typical Tanzanian coffee, with lower and lighter acidity than Kenyan coffee.
The dry aroma of the ground coffee is like honey and vanilla, with a sweet fragrance reminiscent of baked cookies. The wet aroma has a more pronounced sweetness of blackberry syrup mixed with spice notes. In the cup, it shows darker fruits and berries, very sweet, with vanilla sweetness appearing in the aftertaste. Darker roasts are also quite suitable, producing rich bittersweet chocolate flavors and smooth creaminess, much like Kenyan coffee but with much milder acidity. For Tanzanian coffee, its quality is high, and considering the price, it's excellent value.
The United Republic of Tanzania (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania) [2] is an East African country located south of the equator, with its mainland territory situated between Lake Victoria and the Indian Ocean. It borders Uganda and Kenya to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi to the west, Malawi and Mozambique to the south, and Zambia to the southwest. On April 26, 1964, Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged to form the United Republic of Tanzania, with Dodoma as its capital. The former capital before 1996 was located in Dar es Salaam, which remains Tanzania's main commercial city and the location of most government agencies [3][4]. Dar es Salaam is also Tanzania's major port [5].
The eastern coastal region and inland lowlands of Tanzania have a tropical savanna climate, the western inland plateau has a tropical highland climate, the more than 20 islands of Zanzibar have a tropical marine climate, and Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, is located within Tanzania.
