Panama Elida Estate Natural Process
Elida Estate is located in Boquete, Panama's most popular coffee region today. Due to the high-altitude Baru Volcano's fertile black volcanic soil, the estate is situated within a 65-hectare national park forest reserve, at an altitude of 1,800 meters with an average temperature of 20-25°C.
Rich Heritage and Growing Conditions
Elida Estate is one of the coffee estates founded by the Lamastus family since 1918, with a long history. It is one of the highest coffee cultivation locations in Panama. Coffee trees grow under rich shade trees with particularly fertile and nutritious volcanic soil. The large temperature difference between day and night makes the acidity and aroma of coffee cherries especially rich, helping to enhance the complexity of the beans.
Coffee is planted in deep sandy loam soil, and the unique microclimate in the volcanic area remains foggy even during the dry season. The high altitude also means that saplings cultivated in the estate need two to three additional years to begin harvesting, and the annual fruit ripening period is one month longer than other estates in the region, making the coffee beans exceptionally dense.
Exceptional Quality and Recognition
Such advantageous geographical and climatic conditions, combined with natural cultivation and manual harvesting practices, have made the coffee produced by Elida Estate consistently regarded as extremely high-quality coffee by coffee lovers. The natural process beans are particularly outstanding, often ranking among the top natural process coffees in the Best of Panama competition over the years.
