Java Coffee: (Country of Origin: Indonesia)

Coffee beans are grown on islands such as Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Particularly, the coffee beans produced in Java are called W.I.B beans - somewhat round beans that represent the highest grade within the Robusta variety. They are extremely suitable for making blended coffee and are therefore widely used.

The Robusta variety is not susceptible to mold growth. Therefore, when mixed with Arabica varieties, it can create an excellent hybrid with both superior taste and strong disease resistance. Java Robusta coffee develops bitterness when roasted, with a weak aroma but no sourness. It is often used for blended coffee or instant coffee.

Robusta (Java): Characteristics and Uses

As the ideal bean for blending coffee blends, it has minimal acidity and strong bitterness, making it less popular for pure consumption. It represents the signature variety of Southeast Asian coffee. When Robusta coffee is added to coffee blends, it enhances the coffee's concentration and increases its sweetness.
