Brazilian Coffee Overview

Due to the wide variety of Brazilian coffee beans, they cannot be summarized simply by the term "Brazilian coffee." The vast majority of Brazilian coffee beans are unwashed and sun-dried. They are classified according to their state of origin and shipping port.

Brazil has 21 states, with 17 states producing coffee, but four states have the largest production, accounting for 98% of the country's total production. They are: Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Espírito Santo. Southern Paraná has the most impressive production, accounting for 50% of the total. Although coffee has diversity, Brazilian coffee is indeed suitable for popular taste. The so-called Bourbon variety is native to Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. When the green fruit matures, it presents bright red color, while the Yellow Bourbon variety is a hybrid of Bourbon and other varieties, with fruit turning yellow when ripe. Because the cultivated Yellow Bourbon variety has lower yields and is less resistant to wind and rain, it has not been widely planted. However, when planted in high-altitude areas, it shows excellent flavor performance and has become more common in recent years.
