The Charm of Indian Coffee!

The history of coffee cultivation in India is said to have begun in 1650 AD when the Muslim pilgrim Baba Budan first brought coffee seedlings out of the Arab world and successfully cultivated them in Chickmagalur, located in the Karnataka region of southern India! To this day, coffee produced in this region still holds a significant position among Indian Arabica varieties!

The finest Indian Arabica coffee grades are classified as A, B, C, and T grades.

The coffee beans imported by our company come from India's oldest producing region, Chickmagalur, with a grade of A (Plantation A).

It features a mellow and delicious taste, smooth and rounded texture, delicate floral notes, and a rich aftertaste. It has excellent viscosity and optimal body, making it an ideal base for blending with good balance and clarity. It possesses moderate acidity and sweetness, rich cocoa aroma, and a unique Indian spice fragrance that adds to its mysterious allure.

Indian Coffee Origins!

The Western Ghats region of India grows vast quantities of coffee, where the southwest monsoon is crucial for coffee growth.

In addition to Karnataka, premium coffee is also grown in Tellichery and Malabar in the southwestern state of Kerala.

Additionally, there is the Nilgiris region in the southeastern state of Tamil Nadu (formerly known as Madras Province).

India has both plateaus and plains, with plateaus mainly in the central region and plains along the eastern and western coasts.

The soil, water, and climate are highly suitable for coffee cultivation, allowing for many coffee varieties to be grown, predominantly Arabica. Robusta was introduced in the late 19th century and also occupies a significant proportion.

Monsooned coffee comes from the southern Karnataka region, represented by Mysore, and the Tamil Nadu region, represented by Madras.

The Indian Coffee Industry!

India's coffee industry is currently dominated by the southern region, with Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu states collectively accounting for over 90% of the country's total coffee production.

Currently, approximately 250,000 people across India cultivate coffee beans.

The most ideal climatic conditions for coffee bean growth are temperatures between 23-28 degrees Celsius and rainfall between 1.5-2.0 meters, with a 2-3 month dry season following the rainy season.

Cold temperatures approaching freezing conditions are unsuitable for coffee cultivation.

Although rainfall in southern India is less than 1 meter, irrigation facilities are available, and the temperature and relative humidity are favorable for coffee bean growth.

India's coffee industry is managed by the Coffee Board of India, which operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The Coffee Board of India is responsible for promoting coffee cultivation, domestic and international sales of coffee, conducting coffee-related research, providing financial assistance to small-scale coffee farmers, and ensuring proper working conditions for coffee growers.
