Atitlan is one of the four major volcanic coffee regions in Guatemala. The soil of Atitlan is the most fertile among organic substances.
Ninety percent of the coffee is planted along extremely steep slopes, extending all the way to Lake Atitlan.
The coffee from this region is rich and aromatic, with an intoxicating fragrance and a flavor that balances acidity with sweetness. The coffee beans have a full body.
Guatemala is located in the Central American isthmus, where many volcanic high mountains and plateaus produce high-quality Central American high-altitude extremely hard coffee beans, making it the world's 9th largest coffee bean producing country. Guatemala's main coffee producing regions include Antigua, Huehuetenango, Atitlan, Coban, Fraijanes, San Marcos, and Acatenango - seven major producing areas. All coffee beans produced in Guatemala, which has seven coffee producing regions, are Arabica, all located in highland terrain under subtropical climates with abundant and stable rainfall and fertile volcanic ash soil, creating extremely suitable natural environmental conditions for coffee cultivation throughout Guatemala. Each producing region has unique flavors, superior acidity and fruity aroma with smooth mouthfeel, belonging to one of the world's top-tier coffees, suitable for single-origin consumption.
