Konga Village: The Jewel of Yirgacheffe
Konga Village is located in the magical highlands (Rue) - a beautiful name. This highland area is in Yirgacheffe, where each farmer owns approximately two hectares of land. In addition to growing coffee, they also cultivate extra crops such as pineapple, mango, banana, and other tropical fruits. The coffee trees are all shade-grown.
During the day, Konga Village maintains a temperature of about 25°C, while nighttime temperatures drop to 18°C. The processing plant has approximately 145 elevated drying beds, whose basic function is to allow air circulation to optimize the drying process. This method is cleaner and easier to manage compared to drying directly on compacted soil drying fields.
Yirgacheffe's Distinctive Character
What Yirgacheffe is most celebrated for is its unique and distinct fruity sweetness and acidity. Upon first sip, the aroma immediately emerges, beginning with pleasant citrus notes and flavors reminiscent of jasmine fragrance. "Not quite like coffee, more like fruit tea" is a common impression many people share of light to medium-roasted Yirgacheffe. Yirgacheffe displays unique lemon, floral, and honey-like sweet aromas, with soft fruit acidity and citrus flavors. The mouthfeel is fresh and bright, making it an exceptionally distinctive premium coffee.
