The Earth is vast, but the golden coffee growing belt only exists between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. However, the variety of coffee beans is not affected by this factor at all. In fact, some friends who come to FrontStreet Coffee's stores stare blankly at the dozens of coffee beans available on the menu, not knowing where to start. Next, FrontStreet Coffee will introduce some distinctive growing regions and their coffee beans.

Ethiopia

Yirgacheffe

Yirgacheffe is a term that anyone who has come into contact with specialty coffee must have heard of. Yirgacheffe is located on the eastern edge of the East African Rift Valley, with complex terrain and an elevation of 1800-2000m, making it one of the highest-altitude coffee growing regions in Ethiopia. Yirgacheffe is actually a small town belonging to the Sidamo province of Ethiopia. However, because the coffee produced in Yirgacheffe has such outstanding flavor, Ethiopian coffee farmers compete to be proud that their coffee has Yirgacheffe flavor characteristics. This has made Yirgacheffe the most prestigious coffee growing region in Africa. Yirgacheffe has also become independent from the Sidamo region and established itself as a separate entity.

Most coffee beans from the Yirgacheffe region use the washed processing method. FrontStreet Coffee believes that Yirgacheffe mostly uses the washed processing method because washing can highlight the floral notes and lemon acidity in Yirgacheffe. The Yirgacheffe Kotinga from FrontStreet Coffee is just like this.

Sidamo

The Sidamo growing region has an altitude of 1400-2200 meters and is a famous specialty coffee area in southern Ethiopia, bordering Kenya. The characteristic of Sidamo coffee beans lies in their extremely diverse flavors. Different soil types, microclimates, and countless native coffee varieties have created significant differences and characteristics in the coffee produced by various towns. Among the most famous coffee growing areas in the Sidamo coffee region are Guji and West Arsi. Most areas in Sidamo use the natural processing method to process green coffee beans. FrontStreet Coffee believes that the natural processing method gives coffee beans from the Sidamo region rich fruit aroma and smooth mouthfeel.

Kenya

The bright fruit acidity of Kenyan coffee, with its brilliant, full-bodied and outstanding taste, leaves an unforgettable impression on everyone who tries it. FrontStreet Coffee has cupped many coffee beans from different regions in Kenya. If high acidity is the soul of good coffee, then Kenyan coffee is definitely the representative of this soul. Kenyan coffee has a special characteristic: most coffee beans with bright acidity generally don't have a rich body texture. For example, Ethiopian beans give a clean and refreshing feeling in the mouth, while Kenyan coffee provides a berry juice sensation that envelops the entire mouth, similar to tomato juice. The unique acidic aroma in Kenyan coffee benefits not only from the coffee bean varieties but also from the phosphate-rich soil in the growing areas and Kenya's unique 72-hour washed processing method.

Jamaica

The balanced sweet and bitter coffee flavor of Blue Mountain coffee, with its elegant and fragrant coffee aroma, gives coffee connoisseurs a romantic sentiment toward Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans, and FrontStreet Coffee is one of them. True Blue Mountain coffee beans are produced in small quantities and are expensive, with only a small number of people having actually tasted authentic Blue Mountain coffee. To let everyone experience genuine Blue Mountain coffee, FrontStreet Coffee specially selected beans from the historic Clifton Mountain Estate, designated export company by the National Coffee Board, packed in wooden barrels for green beans, and Rainforest Alliance certified Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans.

Panama

When it comes to Panamanian coffee, one must mention Geisha coffee. The Geisha variety was only introduced to Panama in the 1960s and took more than forty years to become world-famous. The behind-the-scenes hero that made Geisha world-famous, Hacienda La Esmeralda, is both the discoverer of Geisha flavor and the promoter of Geisha coffee. FrontStreet Coffee has to mention Hacienda La Esmeralda's grading system when discussing their quality control capabilities. Hacienda La Esmeralda created its own grading system, dividing Geisha coffee beans into three levels: Red Label, Green Label, and Blue Label.

Geisha coffee carries rich and diverse floral and fruit aromas, with distinct layers of intense tropical fruit sweetness. If Blue Mountain coffee is the king of coffee, then Geisha coffee is the queen of coffee.

Colombia is the world's second-largest producer of Arabica coffee beans. Colombian coffee is one of the few single-origin coffees sold under a country name in the world. In terms of quality, it has received praise that other coffees cannot match. Compared to other producing countries, Colombia is more concerned with product development and production promotion. This, combined with its superior geographical and climatic conditions, makes Colombian coffee high-quality, delicious, and renowned worldwide. Among FrontStreet Coffee's daily selection beans, there is a Colombian Huila coffee bean that represents the most typical coffee flavor of Colombia.

Indonesia

Indonesia is located in southeastern Asia, and its coffee history dates back to 1696 when the Dutch introduced coffee cultivation to Java Island. After 30 years, Indonesia had established a sufficient foundation in the coffee market. However, today's representative of Indonesian coffee is Mandheling, which is actually not surprising because most of the Java coffee originally exported to Europe came from the Sumatra region, and Mandheling comes from Sumatra. Therefore, Sumatra can be considered an important coffee production area in Indonesia.

The mysterious and unique natural environment of Sumatra gives Mandheling its rich aroma, full body, intense flavor, with subtle chocolate and syrup notes. Mandheling has a rich, fragrant, purely bitter, and mellow flavor with a slight sweetness. Since Mandheling coffee beans themselves don't have much acidity characteristic, they won't develop unpleasant astringent aftertaste even when kept warm for long periods or made into iced coffee.

Brazil

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer and exporter, but more than three hundred years ago, there wasn't a single coffee tree in Brazil. It was through a Brazilian Portuguese officer's successful use of his charm toward the wife of the governor of Cayenne, the capital of French Guiana at the time, that coffee seeds were successfully brought to Brazil.

Because Brazil's coffee cultivation mostly uses sun-grown planting, coffee cherries quickly absorb enough heat to mature. Brazilian coffee beans have soft texture, large beans, strong flavor, low acidity and gentle taste, with extremely smooth mouthfeel.

The area corresponding to the valley is dedicated to growing basic grains and livestock. The origin of its name: According to Mr. Alberto Membreo's "Indigenous Place Names," Masaguara means "place of deer."

Yunnan, China

The western and southern parts of Yunnan Province are located between 15° north latitude and the Tropic of Cancer. Most areas have an altitude of 1000-2000 meters, with mountainous and sloped terrain that has significant elevation changes. The fertile soil, abundant sunshine, plentiful rainfall, and large day-night temperature differences create the unique characteristics of Yunnan small-bean coffee—rich but not bitter, fragrant but not strong, with a slight fruit flavor.

Yunnan's coffee growing regions are mainly distributed in: Dehong, Baoshan, Lincang, and Pu'er. Baoshan is the coffee growing region with the longest history in Yunnan. Baoshan small-bean coffee is a national geographical indication product and is among the high-quality coffees in China and globally. The average temperature in this area is 21.5°C, frost-free year-round, and is considered the best origin for small-bean coffee. FrontStreet Coffee believes that coffee produced in this region is rich but not bitter, fragrant but not strong, with mellow aroma; rich in oils, with strong fruit acidity and long-lasting aftertaste; this is truly among the finest coffees.
