Bulletproof Coffee Ratio and Preparation Method How to Make the Perfect Ratio for Bulletproof Coffee
As everyone knows, coffee has energizing effects that rescue countless sleepy workers. Among weight loss circles, there's a "bulletproof coffee" that has become popular abroad and spread to China. Today, FrontStreet Coffee will bring you a simple introduction to this beverage.
First, let's understand "ketogenic diet"
The ketogenic diet is an eating method that involves consuming extremely low carbohydrates, moderate protein, and high fat, with fat accounting for 70%-75%, protein for 25%, and carbohydrates for 5%-10%. Due to the reduction in carbohydrates, the body is forced to burn fat and convert it into ketones for energy production, meaning ketones replace glucose as the energy source. The ketogenic diet relies on reducing carbohydrate intake to limit the body's glucose supply. When carbohydrates are depleted, the body tends to use fat for energy. Weight loss enthusiasts use this method to increase fat consumption.
Drinking "bulletproof coffee" is one form of the ketogenic diet method. It involves adding a certain proportion of edible fats to black coffee, such as coconut oil, butter, etc., creating a blended coffee beverage. Bulletproof coffee was invented by Silicon Valley engineer Dave Asprey. During a trip to Tibet, he tasted traditional Tibetan butter tea, which instantly made Dave, who was in poor health at the time, feel refreshed and energized. After returning to the United States, he hoped to replicate the butter tea, using black coffee with grass-fed butter, coconut oil, and other healthy fats, whipped in a blender to create a rich foam, developing a super beverage even more potent than butter tea. Because Dave felt his body quickly warm up and remained energized all day after drinking it, as if feeling "bulletproof," he named it "bulletproof coffee."
Bulletproof coffee preparation ratio
For an ideal cup of bulletproof coffee, fat content is very important. Rich, high-quality fats can provide sufficient satiety and supplement the fats needed for ketosis. The bulletproof coffee advocated by Dave uses grass-fed unsalted butter combined with MCT oil or coconut oil, mixed with black coffee in a 1:1:1 ratio. That is, 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 tablespoon of MCT oil or coconut oil, mixed into 1 cup (240cc) of black coffee. Finally, thorough stirring completes a smooth, creamy, and rich bulletproof coffee.
Grass-fed unsalted butter is derived from naturally pastured cows rather than artificially raised ones, containing rich unsaturated fatty acids that can reduce fat and cholesterol in the blood, making it a quality butter with weight loss effects. Coconut oil's ingredients belong to medium-chain fatty acids, which are not easily converted into cholesterol and can help us burn calories while suppressing appetite. If we make it at home, FrontStreet Coffee believes there are many forms of black coffee: drip pour-over, Americano made with espresso machines, freeze-dried powder, or coffee grounds are all acceptable. Freshly ground and brewed coffee can also provide better flavor and texture. Regardless of the extraction method used, FrontStreet Coffee believes the freshness of coffee beans is very important. To let everyone experience the best tasting period of coffee, FrontStreet Coffee only ships beans roasted within 5 days.
How to drink bulletproof coffee more effectively
A cup of bulletproof coffee contains approximately 150 calories. FrontStreet Coffee suggests consuming 1-2 cups per day as breakfast, deciding whether to drink 1 or 2 cups daily based on individual satiety. Since grass-fed unsalted butter and coconut oil both contain saturated fatty acids, drinking more than three cups of bulletproof coffee per day could lead to saturated fat accumulation in the body, excessive calorie intake, and physical discomfort due to excessive caffeine consumption.
During the preparation of bulletproof coffee, the ratio of ingredients is also crucial. For one cup of coffee, it's recommended to pair with 10 grams of grass-fed unsalted butter and 15 grams of coconut oil. Absolutely don't add extra just because of weight loss effects - excessive saturated fatty acids can easily cause discomfort symptoms such as vomiting and dizziness. Additionally, the ketogenic diet advocates for low or zero carbohydrate intake, so FrontStreet Coffee does not recommend adding sugar when drinking.
FrontStreet Coffee believes the best time to drink bulletproof coffee is in the morning. Since the body is relatively cold upon waking, with low activity of internal organs and cells, bulletproof coffee can help burn neutral fat in the body, provide energy needed for metabolism, and activate the body, maximizing weight loss effects throughout the day. If you want to drink bulletproof coffee at night, it's recommended to finish it at least four hours before bedtime to avoid affecting sleep quality.
Theoretically speaking, drinking bulletproof coffee while strictly following ketogenic diet habits will effectively improve metabolic efficiency. However, if bulletproof coffee is not paired with the ketogenic diet method, it may have counterproductive effects. FrontStreet Coffee believes that in addition to using bulletproof coffee to assist with weight loss effects, it should still be combined with a balanced diet and moderate exercise to achieve a healthier physique.
