"Kotowa" means "mountain" in the indigenous language of the ever-victorious Kotowa Estate.
When it comes to the Kotowa Estate located in Boquete Valley,
most coffee enthusiasts' eyes light up!
FrontStreet Coffee's one of the favorite Panamanian estates!

The renowned Panamanian Kotowa Coffee (KOTOWA)
owner Ricardo manages three very famous Panamanian coffee estates:
"Kotowa Estate"
"Duncan Estate"
"Don K Estate"
Situated in the Baru Volcano growing region, besides the high-altitude Don K and Duncan estates,
there is its own processing plant and traditionally washed farmland at around 1,350 meters.
The area known as Volcancito in Boquete enjoys cool nights without frost and dry, sunny days,
deeply influenced by the microclimate where Pacific and Atlantic air currents meet. The growing season features abundant rainfall and distinct wet and dry seasons; combined with volcanic lava flows, fertile volcanic black soil and excellent drainage create uniquely advantageous growing conditions, producing great Panamanian coffee.
Besides being a perennial champion in coffee competitions,
the estate also places great importance on ecological environment,
awarded the Cleanest Environmental Industry by Panamanian national authorities in 2006.
Over 500 trees are planted in the primary forest, with forest protection areas surrounding the estate,
creating biodiversity of flora and fauna. The estate follows a series of strict agricultural production standards,
and properly plans the balance between social and environmental development:
natural water resource and ecosystem protection, wildlife conservation, pest and disease control, soil conservation, comprehensive waste management, community relationship maintenance, free medical care, providing fair treatment and good living conditions for farmers and their families.
The Legend of Meticulous Natural Processing
Kotowa's natural processing method requires two to three weeks to complete,
underneath the black nets of the drying beds is not the typical mud or cement ground,
but a thick layer of rice husks.
Such facilities can reduce temperature, maintain humidity, and slow down the drying rate!
And this is another secret to why Kotowa Coffee Estate's coffee tastes so good!
Excellent competition records, not only winning awards year after year,
just look at the past five years
with award-winning batches in every group each year,
truly outstanding!
The Enchanting Regional Flavor from Blessed Conditions: Fragrance Nurtured by Fertile Volcanic Soil
The name "Kotowa Coffee"
means "mountains" in the local indigenous language,
The "Duncan Estate" and "Don K Estate" are located on both sides of a mountain ridge, facing the distant Pacific Ocean. Warm, moist winds blow across the steep mountain ridges, bringing diverse microclimates to this region. The volcanic terrain combined with Pacific moist warm winds plus the low temperatures at high altitudes! Sufficient rainfall and sunshine!
On the western side of the Boquete growing area, nights are cool without frost and days are dry and sunny, deeply influenced by the microclimate where Pacific and Atlantic air currents meet. The growing season features abundant rainfall and distinct wet and dry seasons; combined with mineral-rich volcanic lava flows, fertile volcanic black soil with sufficient nutrients and excellent drainage, creating uniquely advantageous terroir conditions.
Forming an excellent organic growing environment!
Therefore, Duncan Estate has strong foundations to develop high-quality organic cultivation!
The multi-layered richness and captivating flavors of the coffee produced here can be attributed to the excellent microclimate.
Panama's Baru Volcano
possesses uniquely advantageous microclimate and volcanic terrain. It is the highest mountain in Panama, with its main peak at 3,474 meters (11,398 feet) above sea level, making it Panama's highest point. The volcano stretches approximately 35 kilometers along the border with Costa Rica. This region enjoys abundant rainfall during the growing season with distinct wet and dry seasons. The black soil is both fertile and well-drained, making the ecological environment rich and the coffee produced here particularly captivating.
