Main Origin

Arabica coffee is suitable for growing on mountain slopes at altitudes of 800-1,800 meters. If the altitude is too high, the coffee becomes too acidic; if too low, it becomes too bitter. Most Arabica coffee is planted in dry, hot valley areas around 1,100 meters altitude, resulting in moderate acidity with rich and mellow aroma. Many regions in Yunnan have unique environments suitable for Arabica coffee cultivation, producing excellent quality Arabica beans.

Planting areas are mainly distributed in Lincang, Baoshan, Simao, Xishuangbanna, Dehong and other prefectures. Baoshan has an average temperature of 21.5°C, reaching up to 40.4°C at its highest, with basically no frost throughout the year, making it a recognized prime location for Arabica coffee cultivation. The Arabica coffee cultivated here is renowned both domestically and internationally for being rich without bitterness, aromatic without harshness, with small yet uniform beans, rich mellow aroma, and fruity notes. International Coffee Organization tasting experts have evaluated Yunnan coffee as being in the same category as Colombian wet-processed Arabica coffee, representing high-quality coffee worldwide.

Variety

Typica, this classic premium coffee variety, is the main cultivated variety for this batch of coffee. Typica coffee originates from southeastern Ethiopia and Sudan and is the most widely cultivated coffee variety in the Western Hemisphere. The plants are relatively robust but not tolerant to strong light, with higher yields in Hawaii. Typica has bronze-colored terminal leaves, earning it the name "red-topped coffee."

Growth Period

Yunnan Arabica coffee trees begin bearing fruit at 3-4 years of age.

Coffee is a short-day plant. Coffee exhibits multiple flowering phenomena with concentrated flowering periods. Arabica coffee in Yunnan flowers from February to July, with peak flowering from March to May. Coffee flowering is greatly influenced by climate, particularly rainfall and temperature. Coffee flowers have a short lifespan of only 2-3 days. Arabica coffee generally begins to open between 3-5 AM and reaches full bloom between 5-7 AM.

Coffee fruit development takes a relatively long time. Arabica coffee fruit requires 8-10 months to mature, typically ripening between October and December of the same year. Rainfall has a significant impact on fruit development, and climate conditions directly affect the fruit quality.

Yunnan Arabica Coffee

Yunnan Arabica coffee belongs to the Rubiaceae family, Coffea genus. Planting areas are mainly distributed in Lincang, Baoshan, Simao, Xishuangbanna, Dehong and other prefectures. Arabica coffee originates from Ethiopia or the Arabian Peninsula.

Flavor description: Rich without bitterness, aromatic without harshness, floral notes, with cantaloupe sweetness in the middle phase and a tea-like finish in the tail.
