The three neighboring small producing areas—Wenago, Kochere, and Gelena Abaya—are also classified under the Yirgacheffe regional category because their coffee flavors are virtually identical to those from Yirgacheffe. Whether in terms of culture or geographical environment, Yirgacheffe is quite similar to the nearby Sidamo, but Yirgacheffe seems to be especially favored.

Yirgacheffe itself is a small town with a population of about 20,000 people. The three adjacent small producing areas—Wenago, Kochere, and Gelena Abaya—are also classified under the Yirgacheffe regional category because the flavors of the coffee they produce are almost identical to those of Yirgacheffe. While Yirgacheffe shares similar cultural and geographical environments with the nearby Sidamo region, Yirgacheffe seems to be particularly favored with uniquely advantageous conditions. Top-quality Yirgacheffe coffee features floral notes, bright citrus acidity, lemon-toned aromas, and a silky smooth mouthfeel.

Kochere is located in southwestern Ethiopia, about 25 miles north of the famous Yirgacheffe town. The production model primarily involves local small-scale farmers delivering their harvest batches to cooperatives for unified processing. The local Chalalacktu village has about 100,000 people who depend on coffee for their livelihood, with related production activities serving as their main source of income. Thanks to the revenue from coffee production, the local standard of living is significantly better than that of many Ethiopian villages, with well-equipped health facilities, higher education institutions, and other amenities. Advanced processing equipment has consistently enabled coffee from the Kochere region to achieve high standards in washed processing, delivering clean sweetness with complex notes of molasses and citrus.

Among these, the more well-known specialty coffee producing regions are Nekempte (Lekempti), Limu, Harrar, Sidamo, and Yirgacheffe.
