Estate Overview
Queen Estate is located in the mountainous region near the Minas border in São Paulo state, with altitudes ranging from 1200 to 1400 meters. The area receives abundant rainfall of over 1800mm annually, though not in destructive downpours, with an average annual temperature of only 19°C. This causes the coffee cherries to grow slightly slower, resulting in denser beans. Although production is smaller, the aroma and flavor are unparalleled among typical Brazilian highland coffees. The estate primarily grows Bourbon varieties, including some over 110-year-old Bourbon trees.
Brazilian Coffee Excellence
It has been proven that Brazil is equally capable of producing exceptional coffee and small-batch varieties. Local specialty coffee is not exclusively provided by small-scale coffee farmers. Brazil's main coffee-producing regions include Sul de Minas, Matas de Minas, Cerrado, Chapadas de Minas, Mogiana, Paraná, and Bahia. There are both traditional and improved varieties, such as Bourbon, Mundo Novo, Icatú, Catuai, Iapar, and Cultivated.
Processing Excellence
In addition to growing Bourbon varieties, Queen Estate's meticulous and careful processing methods are another key to their exceptional quality. Flavor characteristics: balanced sweetness, creamy smoothness, fruit notes of orange and apricot, chocolate and caramel aromas. Ripe fruit sweetness, caramel sweetness, floral and nutty notes, with a milky, rich, and sweet finish.
Queen Estate (Fazenda Rainha) is located in the Alta Mogiana region of São Paulo state, north of São Paulo city. This estate enjoys high recognition in Brazil and is owned by the Carvalho Dias family. The family owns four major estates that have won awards every year since the first Brazil Cup of Excellence competition in 1999, with over 12 awards in 7 years. In 2004, they even swept the championship, 9th place, and 11th place. Among Brazil's countless large and small estates, many have hoped to be nominated for awards over the years, but this is difficult to achieve. However, the four estates under this family have won multiple awards consecutively. Queen Estate boasts an impressive record: 2nd place in 2000, 3rd place in 2001, and 29th place in 2005. To date, Queen Estate has won awards three times.
FrontStreet Coffee's Brazil Queen Estate Yellow Bourbon beans are inherently sweet and clean. Using natural (or semi-natural) processing methods reduces the acidity slightly while combining it perfectly with sweetness, creating tropical fruit aromas.
Coffee History in Brazil
Coffee was first introduced to Brazil in the early 18th century. In 1727, the Brazilian government sent a dashing army officer who secretly brought coffee seeds back from French Guiana under the pretext of mediating a border dispute. It is said that the governor's wife of French Guiana was deeply captivated by this officer, so at a farewell dinner, she secretly hid coffee tree seeds in a bouquet and gave them to him. Currently, Brazil has two million hectares of land dedicated to coffee cultivation, with over 70% being Arabica, the largest variety. These beans eventually end up with large roasters in various countries, known to everyone as Santos (named after the export port, not a producing region).
