Yirgacheffe Kochere Estate Coffee Flavor Profile Taste Grind Setting Variety Introduction
FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe exudes an extremely complex aroma, showcasing an exceptionally remarkable flavor profile that is difficult to describe. Broadly speaking, the dry fragrance of FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe emits intense fruity notes with rich dried fruit characteristics, carrying scents of strawberry, mango, and apricot jam. The wet aroma resembles sweet syrup, like thick apricot nectar wrapped in rustic honey or chocolate. The entrance is not overwhelming, with medium body and acidity that is not pronounced yet lively and bright, reminiscent of fruit-infused black tea.
FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe grading system is not determined by bean size but rather by the proportion of defective beans among all coffee beans. Typically, we find washed G2 and natural G3 Yirgacheffe. G1 represents the highest grade, where Yirgacheffe beans with already low defect rates and superior quality undergo further manual selection before being awarded Grade 1 status.

European monks first established the local coffee cultivation industry, which was later taken over by coffee communities or cooperatives in the villages surrounding the town. There are no dedicated plantations here; coffee trees grow naturally scattered throughout forests and fields. During harvest seasons, Ethiopian coffee trading companies come to town to purchase coffee beans collected by farmers, which are eventually auctioned and exported under the "Yirgacheffe" brand.
FrontStreet Coffee previously featured a Kochere estate natural G1 Yirgacheffe that was greatly loved by our customers. After it sold out, we searched for a long time but couldn't find suitable estate-grade FrontStreet Coffee G1 Yirgacheffe to stock, so we temporarily used a FrontStreet Coffee washed G2 Yirgacheffe. Recently, Coffee Review, a professional international coffee tasting website, recommended three G1 grade Yirgacheffes, which have arrived in our store as micro-batches. Here, we'd like to briefly introduce these three Yirgacheffes.
