German University Students Open Unique Café with Time-Based Pricing and All-You-Can-Enjoy
A unique café has recently opened in Wiesbaden, the capital of Germany's Hesse state. This café doesn't charge customers based on the coffee, desserts, or other food they order, but rather on the length of time they spend there.
According to a February 28th report from Germany's "Der Spiegel" weekly magazine, this café, named "Time Café," occupies an area of 70 square meters. Upon entering, customers must first pay a two-euro "entry fee" and receive a wristband indicating their entry time. Within the first half hour, customers can freely enjoy the coffee and desserts available here. Starting from the 31st minute, customers must pay 5 euro cents for each additional minute they spend.
Inside the café, customers can access the internet or work on their assignments free of charge. Naturally, the café is adorned with various clocks, seemingly reminding customers that "time is money." The operators of this special establishment are two university students studying music.
Here, the staff don't need to watch time-passing customers with a hawk's eye. However, the café currently still has few customers, and the owners hope to attract more patrons through new activities.
