Blue Mountain Coffee Growing Environment
Blue Mountain is located within the coffee belt between 25 degrees north and south latitude, enjoying an exceptionally advantageous geographical position. This area lies within the coffee belt, boasting fertile volcanic soil, fresh and unpolluted air, a humid climate with year-round fog and rain (average precipitation of 1,980mm and temperature around 27°C). Coffee grown on Blue Mountain typically matures between June and November each year. Local experienced female workers are arranged to pick coffee cherries on the steep slopes. 1. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
Blue Mountain Coffee and High Mountain Coffee are each further divided into four grades. Ranked by quality from highest to lowest: NO.1, NO.2, NO.3, and PB (Peaberry). According to CIB standards, only coffee grown at altitudes between 1,000-1,700 meters can be called Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. With low production, large beans, excellent quality, and harmonious flavor combining appropriate acidity, bitterness, aroma, richness, and sweetness, it is recognized worldwide as a superlative coffee. Therefore, the price of national treasure Blue Mountain No.1 is the highest among all Blue Mountain coffees.

Blue Mountain Typica Variety

Typica plants are tall and elegant, with copper-colored young leaves at the top, often called red-topped coffee. Typica was introduced to Blue Mountain for cultivation in the 18th century and has been growing there for over two hundred years. Blue Mountain Coffee Bean Processing Methods
Previously, Blue Mountain Coffee was only washed processed, but with the advancement of specialty coffee, Clifton Estate first attempted to launch natural-processed Blue Mountain batches in 2019. Although natural-processed Blue Mountain Coffee is hard to come by, FrontStreet Coffee believes that washed-processed Blue Mountain Coffee better expresses the coffee's essential flavors. When brewing these two Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans, FrontStreet Coffee uses a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio and a grind size with 75% pass-through on a #20 standard sieve. Because FrontStreet Coffee wants to highlight Blue Mountain Coffee's characteristics of balance, richness, and gentle fruit acidity, using 88°C water temperature is sufficient. When choosing a dripper, FrontStreet Coffee first considers the KONO dripper. Considering that both Blue Mountain beans use a darker roast level—deeper roasts dissolve coffee substances faster—FrontStreet Coffee uses lower water temperature to avoid over-extraction, while also using the slower-flowing KONO dripper to ensure maximum extraction of coffee substances under low-temperature conditions.
FrontStreet Coffee's brewing parameters are: KONO dripper, 88°C water temperature, 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio, 15g coffee dose, and grind size (75% pass-through on #20 standard sieve).
FrontStreet Coffee uses segmented extraction, specifically a three-stage pour method, using 30g of water for blooming with a 30-second bloom time. The first stage uses small circular pours to 125g, then pauses until the liquid level drops to just above the coffee bed before continuing the second stage pour to 225g to complete extraction. The total extraction time (including bloom) is 2'00".
