How to Make Lemon Coffee Specials? How to Make JPG's Jasmine Lemon Cold Brew? Lemon Specialty Coffee Recipes Shared!
The rising chorus of cicadas not only announces the arrival of summer but also officially marks the "golden season" for enjoying lemon products. To be honest, FrontStreet Coffee absolutely loves lemons!
Although most lemons aren't suitable for direct consumption, their unique sour and fragrant aroma can add a refreshing touch that cuts through richness to various foods. That's why all kinds of lemon-infused foods are always widely popular. Things like lemon tea, lemon candy, lemon tarts, lemon chicken feet, and so on... are all very common foods in daily life that are beloved because of the addition of lemon. Of course, there are also quite a few lemon-related drinks in coffee. For example, FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe Gudina from the bean list carries a fresh lemon aroma. But this is more about the inherent aroma of the coffee itself. When it comes to coffee drinks that actually have lemon added, we must talk about the various specialty coffees that are currently selling well in the market!

It so happens that during this time, friends have been leaving comments in the section below wanting recipes for various lemon coffee specialties. So today, FrontStreet Coffee is here to share three lemon specialty coffees that are currently very popular in the market! This allows everyone to make refreshing delicacies at home without stepping out!
Lemon Syrup
Almost all specialty coffees require lemon syrup, so first, FrontStreet Coffee will share how to make lemon syrup! Although we could directly use lemon juice and syrup when making drinks, simmered lemon syrup will have richer layers and flavor expression! So if you don't mind the extra effort, why not first learn how to make lemon syrup~
But to be honest, making lemon syrup isn't actually too difficult. We just need to throw lemon juice and syrup into a pot according to a certain ratio and simmer. The most crucial thing is that this syrup can perfectly replicate the lemon tea that swept across the country a few years ago! (No kidding)
Preparation: Fresh yellow lemon juice, granulated sugar, seedless lemon slices (be sure to remove the lemon seeds, as they are the main source of bitterness)
The simmering method is very simple. Put fresh lemon juice and granulated sugar in a 1:1.2-1.5 ratio (depending on the acidity of the lemons used) into a pot and simmer over low heat. When the syrup in the pot starts to become clear and slightly thicker than water, you can turn off the heat and finish simmering. After cooling, we get a golden, sweet and sour lemon syrup.
Afterward, we can store this syrup in a sauce bottle or sealed bottle in the refrigerator for later use. Then we can start making lemon specialty coffees~
First Recipe: Lemon Sparkling Americano
First, FrontStreet Coffee wants to share the most common lemon specialty coffee in coffee shops—the Lemon Sparkling Americano. The Lemon Sparkling Americano is very simple to make. We can understand it as adding lemon syrup for flavor and lemon slices for decoration on top of a sparkling Americano base. Although it's this simple, its deliciousness far exceeds imagination!
Preparation: Lemon syrup, lemon juice, sparkling water, ice cubes, lemon slices, espresso
There are no specific ratio requirements for the ingredients; everyone can adjust the ingredient ratios according to their preferences. However, it should be noted that when conditions allow, we try our best to use medium-light roasted coffee beans for making espresso. Because compared to the bitter and burnt deep-roasted coffee, light-roasted coffee with acidity as the main characteristic and with floral and fruity notes is more suitable for lemon sparkling water. Therefore, FrontStreet Coffee uses FrontStreet Coffee's Geisha Blend Strawberry Candy from the bean list here. Extraction parameters: 20g of coffee grounds, 40ml of coffee liquid, extraction time 32 seconds. Flavor profile: strawberry, berries, floral, raisin.
Production steps are as follows: First, we prepare a cup of 300ml or more, pour 5ml of lemon juice and 35ml of lemon syrup into it, then add 80g of ice cubes and two lemon slices for decoration. Finally, pour in 180ml of sparkling water and double espresso, and a Lemon Sparkling Americano is complete!
After gentle stirring, we can begin to taste. Upon entry, you can immediately experience the carbonated冲击 brought by the sparkling water, accompanied by the fresh and sour aroma of lemon. Then comes the strawberry candy coffee flavor experience, where you can still taste the aroma of strawberries and raisins. But because the lemon syrup balances the bitterness of the espresso, there's no abrupt feeling overall. The layers are very rich, the taste is stimulating and refreshing, very suitable for enjoying a cup in an air-conditioned room—simply too comfortable! But be careful, when pouring the espresso, remember to be careful and slow! Otherwise...
Second Recipe: Salty Lemon Soda Americano
This one is particularly popular in the Guangdong region because its inspiration mainly comes from the same style in lemon tea. Its preparation is based on the Lemon Sparkling Americano with the addition of salt and preserved plums! Salt provides the salty flavor, which amplifies the sourness and sweetness of the lemon and syrup, while preserved plums provide the aroma of candied fruit. Compared to the previous one, the Salty Lemon Soda Americano has less freshness, but its flavor is more prominent and has richer layers! (As for why salt can enhance flavor, please move to this article to understand: "Sharing a 'clever' operation that can improve coffee quality and enhance flavor")
Preparation: Edible salt, preserved plums, lemon syrup, lemon juice, sparkling water, ice cubes, lemon slices, espresso.
The preparation method is the same as the previous one, except that we need to throw 4-5 preserved plums into the cup when making, and sprinkle a little salt when extracting the espresso (specifically depending on the saltiness of the preserved plums used—the saltier the preserved plums, the less salt needed, and vice versa). Then repeat the same steps as the previous one, and a Salty Lemon Soda Americano is complete~ (Note: for the above two recipes, sparkling water can be replaced with tea)
Third Recipe: Jasmine Lemon Cold Brew
This coffee is also a bestseller in major coffee shops. Although its preparation process is more complicated, its layers will be richer! In addition to lemon syrup, we also need to prepare cold brew coffee and cold brew jasmine tea.
Preparation: Lemon syrup, lemon juice, cold brew jasmine tea, ice cubes, lemon slices, cold brew coffee
Cold brew coffee: Similarly, medium-light roasted coffee beans with rich fruit flavors are more suitable for making this specialty, so FrontStreet Coffee still uses FrontStreet Coffee's Geisha Blend Strawberry Candy from the bean list to make cold brew coffee. Coffee-to-water ratio is 1:10, using 80g of coffee grounds with 800ml of water, cold brewed for 8 hours. After 8 hours, filter the cold brew and it's ready to use!
Cold brew jasmine tea: Following the same principle as cold brew coffee, cold brew jasmine tea only requires mixing jasmine tea bags and water according to the ratio and refrigerating to soak. Here, FrontStreet Coffee uses Lipton jasmine tea bags, ratio 1:40, using 20g of tea bags with 800ml of water, steeping time also 8 hours. After 8 hours, remove the tea bags and it's ready to use!
Next, we just need to assemble them, and we can enjoy delicious coffee! It's very simple. First, add 30ml of syrup and 5ml of lemon juice to the cup, then add 80g of ice cubes, 2 lemon slices for decoration, and 150ml of cold brew jasmine tea in sequence. Finally, drizzle 80ml of cold brew coffee, and a Jasmine Lemon Cold Brew is complete! Stir before drinking~
Because jasmine tea is used instead of sparkling water, the coffee has no stimulating taste and is very smooth. The first thing you feel is the jasmine fragrance of the flower tea, followed by the fruit wine and strawberry aroma of the strawberry candy cold brew, and finally the aroma of lemon candy and oolong tea. The overall layers are very distinct, the taste is gentle and refreshing, rich but not cloying, very comfortable~
Finally: V* Lemon Tea
This is a side "note", but the preparation is also very simple. We only need to prepare an extra portion of very strong hot black tea, then combine it with lemon syrup, appropriate amount of lemon juice, and ice cubes, and we get a lemon tea that's consistent with or even better than the genuine version~ The specific ratios will vary depending on the concentration of the tea, so FrontStreet Coffee won't share them here; everyone can try it themselves~
