Colombia - A Land Rich in Coffee Heritage

Colombia is a resource-rich country famous for its "Four Treasures": coffee, flowers, gold, and emeralds. Coffee stands as one of these treasures, making Colombia the world's third-largest coffee producer, surpassed only by Brazil and Vietnam.

Colombia's terrain is roughly divided into western mountainous regions and eastern plains. The western area mainly consists of the Andes Mountains, along with several coastal plains; the eastern area primarily comprises the Orinoco Plain and the Amazon Plain. Within Colombia, the Andes Mountains split into three ranges: the Eastern, Central, and Western Cordilleras.

Colombia is situated in the tropics, with climate varying by altitude. The southern part of the eastern plains and the Pacific coast feature a tropical rainforest climate, while mountainous areas at 1,000-2,000 meters elevation have a subtropical climate, and the northwest region has a tropical savanna climate. Colombia has numerous volcanoes and rivers, with forests covering 51.9% of its territory. The combination of high-altitude mountains, volcanic soil, diverse climates, abundant rainfall, and sunshine makes it an ideal coffee-growing region.

Colombia's coffee-producing areas are concentrated in the Andean mountains on steep slopes at approximately 1,300 meters elevation, where the year-round temperature is around 18°C and annual rainfall ranges from 2,000-3,000 millimeters. Colombia's three Cordillera mountain ranges extend north-south, stretching into the Andes. The mountain terraces provide diverse climates, resulting in harvest seasons throughout the year.
