Hello everyone!
Your friendly neighborhood wallet-draining reviewer Ari is back again! This time! I've spent a fortune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buying ten popular coffee machines and grinders on the market, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars!
Building blocks! Hahahahaha
It took me a whole week to experience the joy of assembly! Did everyone recognize which brand and model of machine this is?!
Here's what happened! As a writer who pays attention to the coffee industry, my antenna is very sensitive to coffee peripherals! So shortly after these coffee machines and grinders were launched, I managed to get them all! But I've been busy with other things, so the assembly project was put on hold for a while. Until... one day my cat at home clawed open one of the boxes and started playing with a bag of parts, that's when I started working on them (it's not that I'm lazy! really)
This time I bought coffee peripherals in 5 series: "Sicily Late Autumn Collection," "Midsummer Green Collection," "Roman Holiday Collection," "Venice Summer Evening Collection," and "Milan Early Spring Collection." Basic model - "Milan Early Spring"
The coffee machine part of this collection is modeled after the Rocket R58, and the grinder part is modeled after the EK43. The color scheme uses avocado green and light pink, giving it a very fresh overall look. Fewer parts make it suitable for beginners to try! After assembly, it's compact and doesn't take up much space. The Rocket R58 is suitable for home use and small to medium-sized coffee shops. The R58 features the classic E61 brew head, where the distribution screen is no longer fixed with screws, resulting in more even and stable water flow. The internal dual boiler design plus rotary pump provides better stability for coffee extraction and steam.
I'm sure everyone is very familiar with the EK43! It can be said to be the standard equipment for many specialty coffee shops and those focusing on pour-over coffee. This grinder uses 98mm alloy steel parallel burrs, offering high power for faster and more uniform grinding, preserving as much aroma from coffee beans as possible. At the same time, one EK43 can be used for different grind settings, suitable for making various types of pour-over and espresso coffees.
Advanced Model - "Venice Summer Evening Collection"
The coffee machine part of this collection is modeled after the Slayer Steam EP, and the grinder part is modeled after the Mythos One. The color scheme uses lake green and goose yellow, giving it a very refreshing and bright overall look. The parts are more numerous compared to the basic model, suitable for friends who have patience for daily block building! After assembly, the size is reasonable and doesn't take up too much space. The Slayer Steam EP is suitable for specialty coffee shops and coffee shops with high cup output. The EP uses electronically controlled brew heads and a professional steam system that can finely control steam volume and temperature, as well as extraction uniformity and temperature. The multi-boiler temperature control system ensures temperature stability during continuous brewing.
The Mythos One is an espresso grinder that uses 75mm inclined flat burrs, which can minimize residual coffee grounds. At the same time, this grinder has a heating and constant temperature function that can reduce the impact of environmental temperature differences on grinding, preserving the flavor of coffee beans. However, this feature can also accelerate the dissipation of coffee bean flavor in the bean hopper, so if cup output is not high, you don't need to store too many coffee beans in the hopper.
Advanced Model - "Midsummer Green"
The coffee machine part of this collection is modeled after the La Marzocco GS3, and the grinder part is modeled after the Ultra. The color scheme uses light brown and grass green, giving it a very fresh summer lawn-like appearance. The parts are more numerous compared to the basic model, suitable for friends who have patience for daily block building! After assembly, there are 4 parts in total. Although the "wires" behind the grinder look realistic, they're somewhat impractical and come loose easily.
The La Marzocco GS3 can be called the "little lover" of many coffee people! It's suitable for home use and small to medium-sized coffee shops. The saturated brew head ensures water temperature reliability and extraction stability. The steam wand uses a layered anti-scald design. The internal dual boiler design can ensure stable extraction temperature and steam for continuous cup output.
The Ultra grinder might be relatively uncommon in China, but it's a grinder designed by domestic designers and produced domestically, primarily for export. The advantage of this grinder lies in its use of 98mm HU burrs. Large burrs can provide higher grinding capacity per unit time, reducing coffee powder heating and preserving more coffee flavor. Another advantage is the independent click controller, which not only adjusts rotation speed but can also program grinding rotation speeds.
Patience Model - "Roman Holiday"
The coffee machine part of this collection is modeled after the Black Eagle VA388, and the grinder part is modeled after the LWW EG-1. The color scheme uses brown and light brown, giving it a very stable appearance. There are quite a few parts, and the colors between parts are similar, making them somewhat mind-taxing to find during assembly!
After assembly, it's not too big, but not too small either. The Black Eagle VA388 is suitable for specialty coffee shops and coffee shops with high cup output. The T3 temperature control system sets up three layers of temperature control from the boiler to the brew head, ensuring temperature consistency during extraction and preventing different water temperatures from affecting coffee taste. At the same time, it's equipped with a high-precision electronic scale for precise control of liquid output.
The LWW EG-1 resembles a microscope in appearance and uses DB2 dual-peak burrs, which can make the flavor of single-origin coffee beans more prominent after grinding. The burrs are magnetically installed and the cylindrical design ensures that ground coffee doesn't remain in the burrs and grinding chamber. For grinding, you can infinitely fine-tune the grind setting and also control the burr rotation speed.
Patience Model - "Sicily Late Autumn"
The coffee machine part of this collection is modeled after the Kees Speedster, and the grinder part is modeled after the Mazzer Super Jolly. The color scheme uses maple leaf red and goose yellow, giving it a very late autumn feel. There are quite a few parts, but assembly isn't difficult - easier than the Roman Holiday. After assembly, it's not too big, but not too small either. The Kees Speedster is suitable for specialty coffee shops and coffee shops with high cup output. The independent PID temperature control system and self-circulating saturated brew head can ensure stability during brewing. At the same time, it features an extraction lever that allows manual adjustment of extraction pressure - you can think of it as a coffee machine that combines both automatic and manual modes! It can maximally satisfy baristas' pursuit of controlling extraction pressure.
The Mazzer Super Jolly is an espresso grinder that uses 64mm high-hardness carbon steel flat burrs. The built-in grinding flow control system (GFC) reduces static electricity and prevents coffee powder clumping. Dual fans effectively prevent the grinding chamber from heating up during operation, maximizing the preservation of coffee aroma.
Final Thoughts
Above is the introduction to the original building block coffee machines and grinders!
In recent years, domestic building blocks have made great progress, whether in design or the fit between parts. However, the edges and corners of the parts still need improvement.
Among these coffee machine building blocks, the fit of some individual parts isn't great,容易出现 gaps between assembled parts and situations where individual components lack sufficient support or come loose after assembly. There are also cases where parts might be missing.
If you don't have OCD, then it's not a big problem! After all, I personally think the cost-performance ratio is acceptable!
It's just that my fingers hurt a bit after finishing the assembly!!
