Premium coffee beans rose from 50 yuan per kilogram in late February this year to 68 yuan per kilogram recently. Some beans with exceptional flavor and high cupping scores can even sell for 1,000 yuan per kilogram.

The reasons behind this surge are partly rising international coffee futures prices, decreased production and higher prices from major Arabica-producing countries like Brazil and Colombia, and shipping congestion.
