Coffee has a long history of development. It wasn't until the third wave of coffee that people became enthusiastic about exploring every step of the coffee production process: including how farmers grow, how workers harvest, how coffee is processed, and how roasters find the most suitable roasting method for each coffee bean.

What is Arabica?

Arabica coffee accounts for about 80% of the world's coffee production. It is a native variety of Ethiopia, usually growing at altitudes of 1000-2300 meters in the "coffee belt" between tropical and subtropical regions. This area provides nutrient-rich (often volcanic) soil, regular rainfall, and abundant sunshine—conditions necessary for coffee to grow well.

Arabica requires special care because its coffee trees are susceptible to pests and diseases, such as coffee leaf rust or fungal infections, which cause orange patches on leaves and affect photosynthesis, leading to leaf fall and tree death. If not handled properly, entire coffee plantations can be destroyed. Arabica coffee is also easily affected by pests like the Coffee Berry Borer, which lay eggs in coffee cherries. After hatching, they eat the pulp, significantly reducing coffee quality.

Despite these obstacles, Arabica coffee has become the consumer's choice due to its smooth and rich taste compared to Robusta. A cup of Arabica coffee is full of aroma and deliciousness, sometimes described as having notes of flowers, fruits, citrus, earth, cream, chocolate, caramel, honey, or sugar. The flavor can also range from light and sweet to rich and intense, depending on the coffee's origin and processing method.

When ordering coffee at a coffee shop, we see that "Americano" is the English for "美式咖啡" on the menu. If you order this coffee, you'll get a black coffee made by adding hot water to espresso from an espresso machine, without sugar or milk.
