FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Dumerso

The Dumerso wet and dry processing plant and its small farmer cooperative members are located in the Yirgacheffe coffee growing region at approximately 1,759-2,300 meters above sea level. It is jointly operated by Surafel Birhanu and his family, and was one of the founding members when YCFCU was established in 2002. Currently, there are 246 small farmers as partners.

Surafel provides technical guidance to small farmers. Ripe cherries are hand-picked by individual small farmer families and then sent to the Dumerso processing plant for 24-36 hours of fermentation in washing tanks. After washing, preliminary grading is conducted, followed by drying on African raised beds for more than 10 days. During this period, the cherries are turned regularly to remove defects, ensuring the stability of flavor and quality for each batch.
