Brazil is a fertile and beautiful land, the world's largest coffee producer, known as the "coffee kingdom." Most traditional Brazilian coffee is processed through natural drying methods, where the sugar from the fruit pulp remains in the raw beans, giving them a sweet taste. The most common raw bean in coffee sales shops processed this way is called "Bourbon." A coffee produced from Arabica coffee trees, it is very common in Brazil.
The typical cup characteristics of Bourbon variety are low body, balanced, and distinctly sweet. Such coffee beans are most suitable for blending with other single-origin coffees to make espresso. It can form a golden foam on the surface of espresso and give the coffee a slightly sweet taste and a long aftertaste.
The "Bourbon" in Brazilian Bourbon coffee comes from the Bourbon Island Arabica coffee tree. Bourbon Island, now known as Réunion Island, was once a prosperous place for Arabica coffee. The Arabica coffee trees from this island were introduced to various parts of the world, and Brazilian Bourbon is their descendant. Brazilian Bourbon, with its unique sweetness and thickness, has become one of the world's famous single-origin coffees.
