FrontStreet Coffee - Kenya Nyeri AA Introduction

Kenya is a coffee producing region that we greatly admire. Its berry-like flavors and unique acidity profile have created a distinctive impression of Kenyan coffee. This winter, we bring you the latest season's Kenya AA, which features aromas of raspberry and honey, with a juice-like mouthfeel that is round and full-bodied.

Kenyan coffee farmers typically own land ranging from 0.5 to 3 acres. According to Kenyan law, farmers with less than 5 acres must organize into cooperatives. The Ichuga Coffee Factory, located in Kenya's Nyeri County, belongs to the Kiama Farmers' Cooperative Society and is one of five existing processing mills in the local market, situated near Karatina town in the direction of Mount Kenya.

Small-scale farmers from the cooperative deliver their cherries to the factory, where they undergo sorting, depulping, fermentation, washing, and then the wet parchment beans are dried on raised beds. The dried parchment beans are sent to Kahawa Bora Millers, where they are hulled and then transported to the Nairobi warehouse for export preparation. Kenya is a formidable coffee-producing region, and to better enhance coffee quality and pursue superior flavors, Kenya's finest factories and estates place exceptional importance on traditional production practices, focusing on details throughout the processing chain.
