Baoshan is one of the few coffee-growing regions in China, with a history of nearly a hundred years of cultivation. Thanks to the geographical environment of Lujiangba, the high-quality "Baoshan small-grain coffee" has been designated as a national geographical indication protected product.

China's Yunnan province not only has the world-renowned Pu'er tea but also vast fertile land for growing high-quality coffee. Among them, Yunnan's coffee is most famous in Pu'er City and Baoshan City. Especially Baoshan, which produces the world's most expensive civet coffee.

Civet coffee originated in Indonesia and is made when civets eat coffee fruits and excrete the coffee beans unchanged. People extract the coffee beans from their feces and process them. Inside the civet's body, the coffee beans undergo fermentation by gastric juices, giving the processed coffee a special flavor that quickly became a sought-after item in the coffee market.

Rarity makes things valuable. Due to the small number of civets in the world, the price of civet coffee is relatively high. A 50-gram package of coffee beans costs over 800 yuan, which translates to about 200 yuan per cup. Many people don't know that Baoshan in Yunnan is China's coffee hometown, where large-scale coffee cultivation began as early as 1952, with a history of over sixty years. Moreover, Baoshan was also one of the earliest regions in China to produce civet coffee and is very famous for it.

Yunnan Baoshan is located in a low-latitude plateau. Due to its special geographical location, it forms a three-dimensional climate of "four seasons in one mountain, different weather within ten miles." Such a climate is very suitable for growing coffee. It can be said that the quality of coffee grown at the highest altitude here can be compared to Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.

Yunnan coffee is mainly grown in areas such as Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Wenshan, Baoshan, Dehong, and Lincang. Among them, Baoshan has the highest altitude, giving it an advantage in cultivation. The high altitude, good air quality, and large temperature differences between day and night are conducive to the accumulation of organic matter, which led to Baoshan coffee's excellent achievement of winning a gold medal at the 42nd Brussels Eureka Fair in 1993. Its unique flavor captured the discerning palates of exacting coffee tasters.
