FrontStreet Coffee - Tanzania Kilimanjaro Coffee Introduction

Coffee Origin - Tanzania

Tanzania's coffee beans possess exceptional quality, cultivated in the Moshi region near Mount Kilimanjaro. The mountainous area between 3,000 and 6,000 feet elevation is the most suitable region for coffee cultivation. The fertile volcanic ash has blessed the coffee here with a rich body and gentle acidity.

Mount Kilimanjaro is located in northeastern Tanzania, south of the East African Rift Valley. It forms the watershed between Tanzania and Kenya, stands as Africa's highest mountain range, and is a volcano located above the snow line.

The coffee harvesting season in the Kilimanjaro region extends from October to February of the following year. Approximately 1 million people live on the coffee-growing slopes of the mountain, and coffee cultivation is the sole source of income for many of them. Recently, climate change and temperature variations have led to coffee leaf rust (Roya), which has become the biggest threat to Kilimanjaro coffee beans.

Kilimanjaro coffee is grown on the volcanic slopes of the highest peak in northeastern Tanzania on the African continent, displaying distinctive flavors with balanced taste and bright acidity, making it one of Africa's most refined coffee varieties.

As a single-origin bean, Kilimanjaro coffee beans often undergo light or medium roasting, producing prominent yet smooth acidity with a slight sweetness, featuring pleasant berry flavors.

It emits delicate fragrances and contains wine and fruit aromas that leave an endless aftertaste. After drinking Kilimanjaro coffee, one can always feel a soft, mellow earthy flavor at the corner of the mouth. Coffee connoisseurs often describe it with words like "wild" or "savage." It can be said that pure Kilimanjaro coffee is "the most characteristic African coffee"!!!

Kilimanjaro AA is the highest grade of beans, featuring full, round particles with pure flavor, rich and refreshing taste, and superior quality in all aspects. Typically, its acidity is milder than Kenyan coffee and evenly stimulates the taste buds in the center and on both sides of the back of the tongue, feeling somewhat like the acidity of tomatoes or soda.

After medium or darker roasting, it develops a rich aroma; when ground into fine powder and brewed with hot water, it immediately fills the air with fragrance and stimulates the palate.

Knowledge Point: High-quality coffee fruits generally have good shade effects. Tree shade can block the high-temperature noon sun, slow down the coffee's metabolic rate, and help develop nutrients, fruit acids, and aromatic substances.
