Kenyan coffee is renowned for its aroma, richness, fruit flavors, and perfect rich taste. It has a wonderful fruit flavor with notes of blackberry and grapefruit, making it a favorite among many coffee connoisseurs. This coffee features excellent medium purity with a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel.

With its unique taste, it was honored among the "Top 30 Best Coffees in the World 2017" by the renowned coffee tasting website Coffee Review. Among these, samples from Kenya occupied three positions, standing alongside coffee origins such as Panama, Colombia, Ethiopia, Sumatra, Hawaii, Rwanda, and El Salvador.

Why It's Considered Premium in the Coffee World

Most of Kenya's coffee crops grow in the fertile, loose, acidic volcanic red soil of the highlands north and east of Nairobi. This area enjoys ample sunlight and good drainage, with elevations between 1,400-2,000 meters. Due to the greater temperature variations between day and night at higher altitudes, Kenyan coffee has a longer maturation period than lower-altitude growing regions, resulting in higher density and richer flavors. Kenyan coffee, cultivated in such an environment and known as the "Connoisseurs' Cup," is famous for its rich aroma, vibrant acidity, full body, and elegant red wine flavors.

Coffee cherries picked by small farmers are sent to cooperative farms for unified processing. First, unripe or rotten cherries are sorted out, then the cherries undergo pulping, fermentation, removal of fruit pulp to extract coffee beans, followed by drying and polishing. The entire process is supervised by the official Coffee Board, ensuring strict quality control for Kenyan coffee. Kenya's wet processing technology is exceptionally high (notably the famous double-washed method), making it a model among coffee-producing countries.

Coffee industry professionals universally consider Kenyan coffee one of their favorite products, with its wonderful, satisfying aroma, balanced and pleasant acidity, uniform particle size, and excellent fruit flavors.

Kenyan coffee grades are divided into seven levels based on bean size, and into six quality grades based on taste from highest to lowest. The best Kenyan coffee grade is Peaberry (PB), followed by AA++, AA+, AA, AB, and so on, in descending order. Premium coffee has a bright sheen, delicious taste, and a slight wine aroma. In terms of flavor, "Kenyan AA" is particularly well-regarded.

Knowledge point: Kenyan AA consists of the largest coffee beans in the country, with A being next largest, and B being smaller still.
