Premium Panamanian coffee is grown in the western part of the country, near Costa Rica and close to the Pacific Ocean. The coffee produced in the Boquet district of Chiriqui province is the most famous, with Volcán, Santa Clara, and Candela also being well-known. Other regions include the David district, Remacimeinto district, Bugaba district, and Tole district. Only coffee grown at altitudes between 1300 and 1500 meters is considered specialty coffee.

La Berlina Estate Coffee Farm is a renowned plantation from Panama that has won numerous awards in competitions. Initially, Mr. Segundo Di's family found an 80-acre coffee tree plantation on the mountains outside Boquete. This coffee plantation was "naturally grown" when local "raccoons" searched for coffee cherries as food in the fertile volcanic soil of the rainforest, and when they returned to higher altitude areas, they scattered the seeds, forming this "naturally grown" coffee farm.
