Panama, the southernmost country in Central America, has a total area of 75,517 square kilometers with Panama City as its capital. The entire territory of Panama features varied terrain with numerous valleys and ravines, mostly mountainous except for the coastal plains in the north and south. It is precisely these mountains that create various microclimates in the Boquete and Candela volcanic regions. A microclimate is a small-scale special climate formed within a larger climate region due to unique local factors such as topography, vegetation, soil properties, building clusters, and human or biological activities.

This special climate type makes it the main production area for Panama's unique coffees, which are cultivated on the nutrient-rich and balanced soil of the Baru volcanic region.
