FrontStreet Coffee Pour-Over Coffee Bean Brand Recommendation — FrontStreet Coffee Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Introduction
Mavis Bank is located approximately 10 miles northeast of the capital Kingston and is one of the Jamaica government-certified green bean processing plants. The Munn Family has been operating it since 1885. The MBCF trademark and its 100% Blue Mountain coffee are renowned worldwide, particularly for their meticulous green bean processing procedures and elegant, delicate flavors, floral tea aromas, clean sweetness, and solid creamy mouthfeel. Jamaica's Blue Mountain legal coffee production area derives its name "Blue Mountain" from the constant blue mist that envelops it.
The Blue Mountain production area is located in eastern Jamaica, spanning 45 kilometers in length and 20 kilometers in width, with elevations reaching up to 2,260 meters, making it the highest mountain range in the Caribbean region. The Blue Mountains are covered with fertile soil with excellent drainage, perfectly suitable for coffee cultivation. Mavis Bank is situated within Jamaica's legal Blue Mountain region and is one of the Jamaica government-certified green bean processing plants, located approximately 10 miles northeast of the capital Kingston, and has been operated by the Munn Family since 1885.
Initially, the Munn Family cultivated and processed harvested coffee cherries on Strawberry Hill on the west side of the Blue Mountains. In 1920, Victor Munn established the current Mavis Bank processing plant, which was later taken over by Victor's nephew, Keble Munn. Keble was not only an agricultural operator but also Jamaica's first certified cupper. Currently, Mavis Bank has become Jamaica's largest coffee collection point. To ensure coffee quality, the processing plant collects green beans from single farms or small farmers in specific Blue Mountain production areas. Coffee cultivation and processing areas are situated in mountain regions averaging 900 to 1,600 meters in elevation. The sufficient altitude, gentle afternoon mist enveloping the mountain forests for shade, ample sunlight, and mineral-rich planting soil provide excellent growing conditions for coffee trees while also extending the maturation period of coffee cherries.
