FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chiren Washed Coffee Introduction
Yirgacheffe washed coffee features very bright acidity, elegant and delicate floral and fruity aromas, with a clean and crisp mouthfeel. It is one of the most representative specialty coffees. Today, FrontStreet Coffee would like to introduce you to a washed Yirgacheffe from Kochere—Chiren.
Yirgacheffe is located in the Sidamo province of Ethiopia, in the highlands at an altitude of 2,000 meters. It is one of Ethiopia's highest-altitude coffee-growing regions. Yirgacheffe coffee is one of the most distinctive coffees in the world, an outstanding representative of African washed coffee, and has always enjoyed a prestigious reputation among global coffee connoisseurs. This washed, high-quality Arabica coffee is suitable for various degrees of roasting, perfectly presenting fresh and bright floral and fruity aromas, with beautiful and complete bean shapes.
Its citrus flavor, combined with jasmine fragrance, offers a unique taste with wine-like acidity that has established a distinctive flavor profile. Coffee trees in the Yirgacheffe region are mostly planted in farmers' backyards or intercropped with other crops in their fields. Each household's production is limited, making it typical garden coffee. These mountain villages are shrouded in mist, with spring-like weather year-round. Summer brings gentle breezes that are cool but not hot, rainy but not humid, and winter does not cause frost damage, thus nurturing this unique regional flavor of citrus and floral notes.
Chiren washed coffee is produced in Yirgacheffe's Kochere region. It features flavors of rose, premium green tea, honey, orange, and corn sweetness. The fruity and floral notes are pronounced, with delicate and elegant aromas and a refreshing flavor profile. It clearly exhibits the flavor characteristics of washed Gesha coffee.
