What is Single Origin Coffee?

As the name suggests, it refers to coffee beans from a single origin and single variety. Single origin is actually relative to blends. Single origin coffee can be traced back to the coffee's origin, even to the specific plot where the coffee was grown. By getting to know coffee estate owners and going deep into coffee origins, one can understand the stories of coffee origins from the source and purchase green beans.

Single origin coffee comes from a single producing region. As Andra Vlaicu from SCAE said: "The most important thing about single origin coffee is that it can be traced back to its source. You can know exactly where the coffee comes from. It's single origin, not a blended formula." Usually of higher quality, you can see the production history of specific estates, and at the same time, these coffees present their original flavors, possessing the characteristics of specific coffees grown in specific regions. The reason most people like single origin coffee stems from the flavor of the coffee beans themselves. Africa, America, Asia - different producing regions have different coffee flavors. The presentation of flavors is related to the local natural geographical environment, and due to different seasonal climates each year, it creates uniqueness in flavor.

When it comes to single origin coffee, what first comes to FrontStreet Coffee's mind is Ethiopian coffee. Among them, the washed variety has the highest quality, possessing bright fruit acidity, floral and fruity aromas, and a clear, persistent sweetness.
