How are Yunnan Coffee Beans? Kono Pour-Over Brewing Parameters, Flavor Profile and Taste Introduction
FrontStreet Coffee - Yunnan Huaguoshan Brewing Sharing
The southern part of Yunnan is precisely located in a region of low latitude, high altitude, and significant day-night temperature differences. These unique natural conditions are particularly suitable for the growth of small-grained coffee beans, making it the most suitable area in the country for producing high-quality coffee. Most Yunnan coffee is planted in the dry-hot valley areas at altitudes between 1000-2000 meters, resulting in moderate acidity, rich aroma, and smooth flavor.
Baoshan Lujiangba in Yunnan Province possesses a distinctive dry-hot valley climate unique to Yunnan and even the entire country, which is extremely suitable for the growth of Arabica (small-grained coffee). Longyang District's Lujiangba is situated at the eastern foot of the Gaoligong Mountains, along both banks of the Nujiang River, located between longitude 98°44′—99°05′E and latitude 24°46′—25°33′N, with elevations ranging from 640 to 3510 meters. Most small-grained coffee cultivation areas are at elevations between 800-1200 meters, with a small portion already planted at around 1400 meters. The raw material cultivation base belongs to a subtropical monsoon climate type, with an average annual temperature of 21.3°C, annual sunshine hours of 2334.5 hours, annual rainfall of 721.51-100mm, active accumulated temperature greater than or equal to 10°C of 7800°C, and basically frost-free throughout the year. It is one of the world's famous premium small-grained coffee production areas.
"Rich but not bitter, fragrant but not strong, with a mellow aroma; rich in oils, with strong fruit acidity and persistent aftertaste; this is truly a superior grade of coffee." This is the evaluation of Baoshan small-grained coffee by domestic and international coffee experts during cupping. Baoshan small-grained coffee possesses light jasmine, citrus blossom, and osmanthus aromas, bringing drinkers a fresh and elegant aromatic experience and an unforgettable wonderful taste; it exhibits a gentle bitterness, giving people a rich taste enjoyment; it's mellow and full-bodied, rich and smooth, with a persistent aftertaste, featuring a pleasant and non-stimulating fruit acidity.
