FrontStreet Coffee - Hacienda La Esmeralda Red Label, Green Label Geisha Grading and Flavor Comparison
Red Label - Esmeralda Special Selection
The Geisha beans from the Esmeralda Special Selection batch can only be purchased through the annual cupping competition hosted by the estate itself. Hacienda La Esmeralda holds independent bidding events, with participating bidders primarily focused on Geisha coffee.
Hacienda La Esmeralda first divides the lots by growing area, then further subdivides each area into smaller batches for bidding. Only Geisha batches that the estate presents for independent bidding can use the Esmeralda Special Selection name. Since 2013, Esmeralda Special Selection has had nine batches. These beans possess special, bright floral aromas and citrus fragrance.
Green Label - Reserve Batch
Although not the highest-grade auction beans, Green Label Geisha is grown at altitudes between 1,600-1,800 meters. These are micro-batch coffee beans from three different estates: Jaramillo, Quiel, and Cañas Verdes. The selection of perfectly ripe coffee fruits creates a rich sweetness, bright fruit acidity, and delicious flavors.
